Whew that title is probably way too long! So a few things to note about this video.
1) This is my (Evan's) first time rough cutting an entire video. This is SUPER exciting because that means that eventually we can make this whole process of making videos faster and more efficient with me doing the rough cut, then Katelyn polishing everything up. I intentionally left everything a little long so that Katelyn has the room and material she needs.
2) It's incomplete because we still need to record the intro and the final assembly of the (hopefully) final revision of the metal 3D print. The scales should be coming in this Saturday or next Monday.
3) Rockler is sponsoring this video but we're going to remove most of the talking we do about the Rockler shop block, we were talking with them about what level of sponsorship and it's just going to be product placement. Also even if it was talking points we would have cut most of it. I just left it in so we had options and thought it's an interesting sneak peek into how we record extra and cut it down.
4) We're definitely struggling with where we want to take this video. We could just tighten it up but still leave everything in, all the trials, failures, and eventual success. It might end up being 25 minutes or so. We could trim it down to 12 by removing some of the banter and experimentation. Or we could trim it down to 7 and montage through most of the experimentation without going into details about what went wrong and what changed each time. What do you guys think?
We've been going back and forth lately about the style of our videos. We started out being really succinct (mainly because we had a general script planned out before the video) but recently they have been more meandering and include more banter. Curious to hear your thoughts on how our style is evolving.
