2018-06-22 20:34:47 +0000 UTCYou guys! Modern dance can be reeeeeeally stupid... but there are fucking amazing pieces out there. Dance is my fave form of theatre. It's so bizarre but I think we read body language (beautiful bodies) and gesture much more acutely than anyone realizes.(it's an ancient instinct) I'm really out of touch with current stuff, but Paul Taylor and Mark Morris have fantastic companies and are genius choreographers ( 20th century is their heyday). And don't forget Balanchine. The ballet "Agon" was 1st done the year I turned one 1957.... and it is fucking amazing...and would baffle most people still today (Philistines!) But of course in any time period, 90% of the current art is crapola. Time weeds out the junk.
