Three Men and A Raven | Patreon Exclusive BOTC

Hello NeRBs,

We wanted to thank you for the wave of support we received in the comments of our last post. The NRB community is simply wonderful and we are so happy to create content you love.

This month, we have a great new episode for you!

For those of you who found Daddy Ben's script based on Red Dwarf very complicated, we have switched gears with a script called Everyone Can Play, also made by our wonderful Daddy Ben.

Find the script here or in the video description: https://botc-scripts.azurewebsites.net/script/1945/1.0.2

We hope you enjoy!

they bounce it to help whoever is at a disadvantage, to keep things balanced. evil was at a disadvantage at that point, so helping them was the fair play.

Theodore Stagnum

Great episode. Chris's cool demeanor is OP

T Pearson

Didn’t the STs essentially use the mayor bounce to help evil? They completely hid the drunk by killing Dom which made Sam convinced he was the most obvious drunk in the world and had solved the game. Shouldn’t they be bouncing in a way that’s favorable to good or at least neutral?

Katie Risavy

I’ve binged all of the botc content oh nooo what will I do!! January episode ?

Alex Saddington

Are we getting botc for January? Cool if not, but it's the thing I look forward to the most

anne

It's always unfortunate when a player starts out doing a bit like "I'm probably the drunk, haha" to everybody before the game even starts, but then for some reason forgets it was just a joke and ends up tunneling on that idea as if it's real and tanking their own game. I know Sam's information was bouncing around thanks to the poisonings, but combined with Ivan's info and some of the other info that was flowing around, I feel like they could have sorted out which nights were most likely to be correct pretty quickly (and started building possible Poisoner worlds instead of just Baron or Spy worlds) if Sam wasn't so obsessed with the idea that *all* his info was worthless bc, haha, that's a funny meta-thing Ben would do to him. There was enough pointing at Chris from different directions that he should've been way more in the sus-crosshairs than he was. On top of that, there was the opportunity to build a great chain of trust starting with Emily and Sully's grandmother/grandchild relationship, especially after Dom confirmed Sully, thereby adding a third link in the chain. Instead, they confirmed that they were probably good... but then just sort of sat by and didn't really build on that by trying to bring other people into it. Maybe we missed some conversations or something, but it felt like there was a lot of wasted potential for building a coalition of trusted Goodies by having the three vouching for each other in private chats and pulling other obvious Goodies in (and thereby narrowing down the parts of the clock that could contain Evil). Instead, everybody played it super cagey and ended up failing to gel their various bits of info together. All that being said, it was still a good game, fun to watch, and Evil played really well, even after what could've been a rough start. I think the above things I mentioned helped them A LOT, tbh, but they still worked the opportunities that were presented to them pretty perfectly.

Funk McPuke

Ironic that for my group, Everybody can Play, but only one person is allowed to Storytell.

Paul Harries

Hey gang, are you doing a Wizard script? For the next episode, I'd certainly wish for one....

Forgotten user id

Agreed - Josephine was the MVP for me despite being a new player.

Jay

I am obsessed with Josephine's play on Night 3. Really showed that she has an independent and keen mind, and will likely become a real force to be reckoned with once she's more experienced. It's not often that a minion in her position doesn't do what they've been instructed to do by their Demon, and effectively took out one of the more powerful information gathering roles!

Jay

Thank you for the video! I enjoyed this BOTC. It would be helpful if the name of the role was displayed with the icons for each person. When I hear the players refer to their role by name I am not sure if they are what they say they are.

Stephan W

The probably won't be any time soon, as it costs a lot and is very time consuming.

Marko Zadro

I was gifted Patreon membership for Christmas 🎁 so excited to start looking through everything - got to start with BOTCT though!

Prue

The lesson is you should stay flexible and sometimes that means changing the plan without consulting your team, sure poisoning and killing the mayor is a cute move but learning the empath is right next to your demon should make you change your plan

NihilismRacoon

when is there going to be a new season of in person

luke

Please do another homebrew script soon! The bits are amazing

Rosa Hübenskjold

It's not that you shouldn't work as a team, it's that they realized that not poisoning Sam could be really bad at that point and they adjusted. It could have gone either way, but it was a smart move. Sometimes you don't get the chance to talk to your teammates after new information comes to light.

Burgundy

That'd make it an interesting last-ditch effort for an evil player who's bluffing artist/fisherman/insomniac as well

arnoldk

If you learned that not working as a team is a good idea, I’m sure any future opponents will be happy 😁

Brett Smitheram

I learned the opposite lesson because Josephine actually saved the game by poisoning Sam.

Beth

I think it's what turned me off custom roles entirely.

Steve Hicks

I think one or two customs a year I a nice balance. Last year before the hiatus there was 3 or 4 in a row and it was a bit of over kill

Andrew Farmer

Interesting so you can be on the block Ben could say any last nominations in 3..2..1 and then you could say Ben quick chat before I die and get your artist/ slayer ability to proc

Kyle King

The character description just says "during the day," which covers any point between waking and going to sleep. So there's no restriction about it having to be used prior to nominations, just has to be prior to execution or the day otherwise being brought to a close.

Sean Gleaves

Lesson here that minions really should try to work with their demons if directly asked to do something, or at least say that they would prefer to do something else! Could’ve been bad for evil

Brett Smitheram

Can the artist activate while on the block during nominations? I thought they had to speak to the storyteller during the day prior to nominations? Or was I just imagining that?

Kyle King

Great game and master class game by Chris … thought for sure this was going to be over quick and a rerack … free misplays should have 100% poisoned the mayor ( always a good idea to do poison, who the demon tells you for killing reasons) and she should have poisoned Tilly as the raven keeper before she died just incase since the empath was known to her and thinks he is drunk and would have gotten the same info reguarless. Poisoning Tilly. Would have allowed her to be killed with out her power going off and then they probably vote off sam. Not poisoning. The mayor when the demon asked led to both the mayor and the raven keeper being left alive high likelihood that Chris gets another evil ping or a mayor win…. Lucky for evil it didn’t play out that way and they voted off the mayor and chis killed off his minion instead of picking the un poisoned raven keeper…. Great game though very entertaining. 👏👏👏

Kyle King

I took it as role playing townsfolk living in Raven's Wood Bluff, but I'd have to go back and listen again to see if the exact wording actually makes sense with their seats or not.

M.A. DeRoss

That makes sense! Thanks for sharing that info and I agree with you. I like a mix of easy scripts and complex ones. I just prefer it with the 100+ established characters that already exist in the game.

Steve Hicks

I think this episode was filmed a while ago when all the others in this set were filmed (with Sam See Being the demon) so it might me mere coincidence it came out now. I do like a mix of easy scripts and more complex ones

Gabrielle Stephenson

We'll have to disagree. The Red Dwarf episode was a good deal more than simply a "custom script". With well over 100 different characters available for custom scripts, there's simply no need to onboard new character types with new names that we have to look up just to remember what a role does while viewing/listening. Particularly so with the latest episode to drop that involves a slightly modified Trouble Brewing. One of the three original scripts that I've never seen a bad or confusing game of. There's an abundance of characters that most of the viewers recognize and know what they do without having to remember what a whole script of entirely new characters with new powers does.

Steve Hicks

I agree, I had a great time watching the Red Dwarf episode and i hope they play it again!

Ruby

Chris is so good at this game. I thought he's crazy for not starpassing after Ivan had him singled out. Though I feel like Holly would have probably got him.

Kalle

Content is fantastic and the effort in production shows. But I really struggle to understand Sam See, a better directional vocal mic would do wonders here...

Dubravko Antunović

Should def play another game of Ben’s red dwarf script

Andrew Barnes

1h15 Ilove Ken’s idea of making it look like the Undertaker was guessing the role. Such a clever world building idea, I would never think of it

Vincent

wait, are Dom and Sam actually neighbors?

rojowo

1:00:11 I love Tilly

rojowo

The Grandmother dies if the Grandchild is killed by the Demon. In this game the Grandchild was executed by the town.

Scott Moore

I thought the Red Dwarf game was fun and not that hard to follow. Even if you don't recognize the references, the roles were not that far off from ones that already exist. I don't think we should discourage a custom script if they want to do them.

ElloryQueen

28:14 I love Laurie and Sully being friends

rojowo

I'm confused, why didn't the Grandmother die when the grandchild died?

4.I.S

Chris runs a channel called Noobs on the Gooftower, which features occasional NRB cast members as well as some Dropout faces as well.

Reggie

I know almost all of the roles by heart so far, but I still watch the explanation at the start of the video EVERY time.

Maud

Joined the Patreon after the last patreon exclusive was posted for the public, and I did like the Red Dwarf episode even if initially thrown off at first; and though I initially just joined for more Clocktower I have been extremely addicted to King's Dilemma and have serially binged almost all the episodes! Love the content, you guys are amazing, will be staying on board <3

Panda

Sam said thats 5 outsides if his the drunk. Which shld mean one outside is evil. Just kill into one of them not outside of them... Anyways good Ep still.

MbtCancelByAllCommunitySoonCancelledByAllCommiteeSoonCancelByAllPlayersSoon

*****spoilers**** Usually I get the feeling that the storytellers are helping the evil team a bit too much, but I really feel like they did this one all on their own. I was even rooting for evil at the end because I felt like they had played it so smart and convinced everyone that it wasn’t Chris.

Hannah Balkovec

Thank you for listening to your supporters and sticking with the roles and rules that we recognize and know. It's super rare these days for content creators to not just acknowledge their supporters but actually listen to them and find a middle ground. It's why you guys deserve to be supported. <3

Steve Hicks

Just finished the video and that was a shockingly cool, dynamic game given how things started out.

BLB

Y'all chose an absolute S tier episode to give the normies. Well done!

Brad

Found NRB a week ago due to randomly coming across the last video you posted on YouTube. Being a Dropout fan and BOTC fan watched due to Rekha and Chris Grace, but now have now subscribed and binged 80% of the BOTC NRB content and am hooked. Looking forward to branching into the other series when I run out of BOTC content, but not looking forward to the wait between BOTC episodes!

Jason Wentworth

In homage to Laurie’s singing, can I be that guy and can we have a musical themed Christmas episode please?

Daniel King

I’ve been LOVING everything NRB has been doing the past couple months, and can’t wait for Betrayal Legacy. Also, Chris Grace may be my new favorite BOTC player to watch.

Will Seamon

Glad to hear there's been continuing positive vibes. A bit off-topic, but the Board Game League has been a real winner of an idea, IMO.
