August off to the moon.

I literally wonder where the month left. I remember a blur of dismally hot days, dismally rainy days, joy at seeing the first hint of leaves on the ground, and appointments.

So very many appointments.

The post today is just kind of a 'bonus' thing for the end of the month. A map (done in Inkarnate) of the large town of Crowsbury, that has a very 'Halloween' feel to it much of the time (along with Wicksham Cross, its neighbor to the south).

I'm working on a couple paintings currently. Both leaning toward the autumn. This is usually the time where I start going a little mad in drawing things with leaves falling or having fallen. I have a lot I'd like to get done, from tribal wolves readying dens to Lorrnath pulling in harvest.

While the current goings on in the world are likely going to put the brake on Halloween for the real world, I can happily add it into the lives of folks in 'Wroth, and will share all that I can. Hard to believe its already headed into September. I suppose I'll be saying this again in two hours time when its the end of September and moving into October.

But I will share hats, brews and 'spook' in the meantime.

Thank you all.

I wanted it to be this eclectic mix of a sea-side town with a bit of a 1650/1700s vibe. The kind of place with superstitions about harvest time bringing spirits in from the seas, and that would have shops selling candles, hats, and pastries. I kinda want to go on vacation there myself now :)

Full disclosure, the map was made with a program called Inkarnate (A sort of online map-builder with assets). While they allow full use and license to display/sell maps you make there, I wanted to make sure folks knew this wasn't my own work other than placements and actually 'mapping it all out'. I guess in my older years I'm realizing I can't draw everything on my own if I want to flesh the world out like I've wanted for about 20 years now, so I'm starting to use programs like Inkarnate and Wonderdraft to help the process along :)

At first glance, this reminds me of my favorite vacation spot. I look forward to studying it more this evening. ^.^

This map is mind-numbingly beautiful. The details are intricate and every line and curve leads to the next. I'm not particularly a fan of maps; I usually find them boring, but I spent over fifteen minutes examining this jewel.

I like your town drawings, a decidedly different style than my own. Halloween is a much different thing depending on where you are. In the Elven lands and near them Loagurth is celebrated. Loagurth (Yeardeath) W1.1 Day of the dead. The day the Mother begins her long weeping for her children must die. Elves decorate the graves of those that died in the last year, ask Agarwaien to watch and keep well what she has taken. This is the only holy day in the Elven calendar that holds any resentment. The Elves where created to be immortal, only the creation of Agarwaien, or death, by Morchaint Mormiron prevented this. Tradition holds that it will always rain on the sunset of this day. The more Celtic areas follow that tradition. What you do not get are the deep snows, but the season of rain. The harvest season is more subdued in terms of leaves dropping.
