Before War, and re-worked 'It Begins' sketch

In working on the next batch of concepts for this month's Patron Sketch I also ended up going back to the last image I had posted here - The 'It Begins' image because there were parts of it that were really bothering me.

The biggest problem I had was the pose of the Lorrnath on the right of the image, sweeping.  It felt static and he seemed a bit too tall when compared to Cinders.  She's hard to include in multiple character pictures because she's quite short comparatively, and trying to size other's around her is always a bit of a gamble.

I ended up making the guy a bit shorter, changing his pose to have a slight bit more of a dynamic quality, and even ended up re-drawing Cinders, as I wasn't keen on the look.  Added a few little touches as well, and will be doing this as the next painting.

But I didn't want to just spam the same image twice with just some tweaks, so I included an exercise in doing a portrait with simplified artwork.  A tribal/wild elf kid asking their uncle about a time before war.  There isn't much more context to it, since I just did this to try something completely different, and to force myself to work in less obsessive linework that I usually do.  I ended up turning it into a comic-panel style.

If anyone knows where the hell the month of August went, let me know.  I blinked and it suddenly was almost September :P

Stay safe, folks,

-T.J.

I can't blame you. I love finding little places that have esoteric items, or a little student cafe on some corner where they draw shapes in the foam of the coffee. There's something nice about finding a 'nook' like that. 'Wroth is no different, though some of the items might be different.. or might explode. But still, it'd be worth a walk through Glaedhurst there, or Wician if looking for things of a primal natural magical nature.

I can only hope we have a naturally progressive fall this year. A couple years back we had the trees just start turning, then a weird frost/snow hit, and it went from still slightly green to bare trees in one sad swift week. I just want to be able to see leefs turn yellow and read and sit outside sipping something with nutmeg in it :)

It's a hobby of mine to find and explore local shops throughout the state. Perhaps one day I will round a corner and find myself in the Neigh Nook, Narnia style.

The whole summer was like that, hopefully fall will linger.
