It Begins - (sketchwork)

I've been getting back into walking after realizing I've put on a good 10 pounds during this whole quarantine thing.  While out today I've realized that more and more little yellow leaves are appearing on the ground each day, and some trees and bushes are just starting their slow descent into the fire of autumn.

Naturally Cinders and the Lorrnath of Glaedhurst have likely been seeing the same leaves starting to appear along the still green grasses.  While normally she'd be full 'squee' over the first leaves of the season changing, she doesn't believe one should yell 'LEEF!' in the middle of a street, and elected to get an early start on some of the spiced drinks appearing at some establishments in the town.

So it begins.  The wander into the autumn.

I'm okay with this.

Tim, My desire for a lengthened time of autumn are for those very reasons (I'm just not as good with words). ;-)

But I love the crisp cold snap of January, the greening of spring, if not the pollen. Even those lazy summer nights, if not crazy about the heat. Even if autumn is close to my heart each season has its place, and its time.

There's much cider, and wine, and revelry during the wander to the solstice, and many leaves of course. They have feasts of magnitude after harvests, with sayings akin to 'You'll need a winter to rest after that meal.' :)

I'd honestly love that myself. But then I realize how much raking would be involved o.o

Its my favourite season by far. Much for the reasons you list (Especially the pollen. My own allergies have been trying to destroy me this year). There's a certain primality to the view of birch and elm and maple during this time. Its hard to really explain, but there are times when its quiet that the season can make it feel like you've stepped into another realm that humanity hasn't ever left a mark on. For Cinders and her people, it's one of the more important seasons. Its the harvests, the last get-togethers, the wines and ciders go out, and the last of the trade-routes are planned and undertaken. The equinox and Solstices are celebrated with fire and light and solemn songs. Cinders' very heart is this season. Her home is the Haustrforn (Ancient Autumn), the great tree is especially autumnal during this season. I look forward to it myself. Even during these times. I'll happily celebrate with the small be-horned lorrnath in my head, and draw as much of it as I can. :)

🖤 This one wishes for a time of perpetual Autumn 🖤

I love autumn. Cooler temps, no pollen, apple cider, and spiced donuts. Cinders ' world seems it would be closer to the turn of the seasons. Festivals on the Equinox and Solstice. Many cultures have a festival of lights at the turning of the year. I'm an old soul myself, for me the new year comes not with the drunken night of December 31, an accident of the calendar, but The 21st, winter solstice. Like Cinders I feel closer to the movement of the seasons than the movement of the calendar. LEEF!

I wouldn't share Cinders' enthusiasm for autumn, but I'd enjoy seeing it nonetheless. I'd only get excited when we got close to Thanksgiving and Christmas, or the equivalents in their world.
