Assassin Vines (sketch)

I had been looking through the sketchbook to see what I could do larger pictures of when I came across an older image of the D&D group I had run fighting an Assassin-vine and its 'smaller plant' allies.

It was a fairly memorable battle because it wasn't just a steamroll.  I find the ones that are a struggle and that are failures are more interesting.  I don't draw much in the way of battle, but now and then its nice to change things up.

Sadly I couldn't fit all the characters in this image, but a few are there.  I'm posting this with permission of the dwarf's player as well, and might end up doing an illustration-style colour work of this just to stay sharp (if the weather would stop being above thirty Celsius every day).

This is at least the rough linework.  It drove me fairly nuts due to the amount of vinework.  I'm not sure I like the picture or not yet, but it helped me figure some character look things out so every scribble is a victory somehow!

Lastly, I'll be picking the next person on the sketch-list on the 24th this month.  I'm sorry its a bit late, but its been absurdly busy with the upheaval renovation going on here.

That's pretty epic. I'm glad you decided it switch it up a little. Looks like a tough battle. The tough ones are always rewarding. (Not good to have them all the time, but yeah, those are special.) Keep up the awesome work.

I think part of it is that I see a lot of fully inked pieces with that really nice shadowing and figure mine is more of a 'sketch'. Though admittedly I don't usually do full inking if I'm going to be doing colours on a picture later on. Thankya kindly though! :)

So far, none of them have taken an arrow to the knee :)

I need this crew fighting with me in Skyrim. ;-)

I love how you say this is a "sketch" and "rough linework." Yeesh! It's beautiful. :)
