Weather's Coming - Rough sketch

This turned out oddly.. Hildebrandtian.  Its one of a bunch of sketches I'm frantically getting down in digital format before they disappear out of my head again.  I apologize in advance for the flood of these that will show up, but the up-side is that I've got a huge variety of things to paint this month.

"Ay Taerval!"

"Ay"

"Weather's comin'."

"Looks so, yah."

"Raeoh an' me headin' t' Whistlekeg.  You Brightfer?

"May well, yah."

"Gon' be tunderin' up the hells,  Hopin' fer no stones"

"S'early season, not sure much'd be stem snapped"

"Hopin.  Lets drag hoof, yah?"

Sort of! Though more Eastern Canada/Northern Irish/Cornwall in this case. Its a wonderfully confusing and thick dialect, largely self-contained since a lot of farming communities don't have wide travel and develop their own colloquialisms. Hoping to get their pub picture done next.

I absolutely agree. I want to head to the pub with them and listen to music and banter as the storms thundered overhead outside. :)

They do have a pretty thick local dialect, yep :D Essentially its three farmers meeting up on the pathway as weather (a storm) is rolling in over the horizon. One pair are headed off to the 'Whistling Keg' which is the local pub (coloquially: Whistlekeg) and are wondering if Taerval is up for joining them. The rest is banter about the storm looking serious and hopes that it doesn't hail, and wanting to get going if they're going to get indoors before the roiling clouds arrive.

Not Scottish precisely. Its a mix of accents in my head. Part Old Irish meets Eastern Canada Newfoundland with a bit of Cornish and seasoning of Gaulish (accent unknown since its a dead language, but some of their language uses Gaulish spellings)

My Ghood, they're Yoopers.

Great job on the outfits. I love the stitching work and rough lines. The apron is a nice touch too. I hope you are able to get all the sketches out of your head before they're lost. Good luck.

Can we have a translation into English please? ;)

Wait, is that how you write in Scottish? If not, that is one interesting accent, I have to say.

I love this little peek into everyday life. Wishing I could step in and have a cup of coffee with them.

Very appropriate for my neck of the woods.
