Final version of a commission that was long overdue. The ever so dark Kassidey.
This commission was a fairly challenging one. It features a character that is black and white in colour, inside of a temple/cathedral/church that features grey stonework, lit by mostly candle-light and reflective lights. Black and Whites are a fairly crazy combination when it comes to doing them in colour since one absorbs more light and the other reflects more. It's also not the easiest to make the colours really dynamic without blowing out the local colours themselves. But what it does allow is for some really good contrasts for a foreground character.
All in all it was fun to do. I've been trying some of the new texture brushes put out by Brian Allen (Flyland Designs) and they make for a really, really great base to paint up on.
I'm still a bit behind on work due to wanting to finish this piece, so opening commissions has been taking a while. I still plan on hopefully being able to do so by the end of this month, but there aren't any guarantees. I've started the next sketch and have been told I can share it (woo!) with folks here, so more on that in a week or so.
That's about all the news for this week. Links will be going out via messenger shortly!
