You aren't kidding about 90s fearmongering - being exposed to that growing up as a young neurodivergent with generalized anxiety in SoCal helped make me the quintessentially neurotic person I am; between the nonstop 'it bleeds it leads' news (saw someone shoot themselves after a live report pre-empted Animaniacs), the ubiquity of that book of revelations shit in tabloids and fundie stuff, and yes, the earthquakes (Northridge in particular), left me feeling there was nothing solid to hold on to, not even the ground beneath your feet. Still, you guys made it fun, so another inch towards catharsis perhaps.
