2025-06-16 21:54:12 +0000 UTCOk, The End of the Day & Inside My Love took me straight back to late 90's/early 2000's - synth sounds, key changes (because key changes are so unusual now sadly, maybe because they might tend to extend songs??), the harmonies, even the chord structures. Also, the percussion break into the key change for IML - Phil Collins anyone?? IML especially felt very early 2000's boy band, in particular, the octave singing in the pre-chorus and chorus added to all the other elements. That's the music of my teens so it feels kind of funny to me to hear everyone be like 'this is so crazy' and not talk about 90's music throwback elements lol. Immediate playlist. Bag Bad Back is actually my favorite track though, it goes so hard. And the bass note movement mid-chorus adds SO much to keep it from just droning and getting boring. Unusual for me, but they do a lot to keep it interesting while maintaining hip-hop go-hard vibes. Changes in rapping rhythm and tempo, the descending tone in certain places in the verses, and the suspension and build-up of the pre-chorus....ughhhh so good! Can you tell I'm all in on it lol.
