As always, impeccable material. The whole sixth starter thing will be interesting to track, but injuries usually make it a moot point. Finally watched my first full game of baseball in a long time, and while Kluber was still not sharp, it looks like he was beginning to piece things together and was not shaken after some luck not going his way. Really excited to see German looks a year away from the game and Monty following him up, they are absolutely critical pieces that will either make or break this rotation.

2021-04-03 23:46:07 +0000 UTCIt took me exactly one game to remember I much I loathe this $$$$ extra innings rule. And how much I despise the Yankees’ annoying inability to get productive outs and/or put the ball in play when needed…

2021-03-31 01:10:48 +0000 UTCDevi will make one spot start then be the 5th starter after May when the idealistic Kluber experiment ends. Letting Tanaka go will be the difference for the Yankees this season. They traded dependability for risk and this team is not ready for it.

2021-03-30 20:28:25 +0000 UTCQuestion for Mike: What level would we be talking about Dominguez starting at this year if he had been at the Alt site last year?
Nick
2021-03-30 20:23:51 +0000 UTCI really hate that they didn't find a spot for Dominguez at the Alt site last year. I know he was never going to help, but he's such a special prospect that I really think it would have been better for his (and the team's) long term outlook to have him in Scranton getting at bats daily.

2021-03-30 20:23:08 +0000 UTCI believe Kluber's career ERA in Spring Training is near 4.50, and his career in-season ERA is nearly a half a run lower in the second half compared to the first half. I'm not sure either stat tells us much, but my guess is his command improves as the season progresses. It is weird, though, to see him struggle with his command and control. Seven walks in 13 innings? This is a guy who walked all of 34 men in 215 innings during 2018.

2021-03-30 17:23:29 +0000 UTCI assume he's already been requested, but here's my Random Yankee request for Brandon McCarthy

2021-03-30 15:49:39 +0000 UTCOkay, so older guy here, but like David Cone, I am really embracing analytics and see the value. I have developed a pretty good understanding, but every now and then, I read something that triggers some questions. Today, it's strikeout %. So, for a pitcher, is that a % of outs recorded, or batters faced? Same for hitters- is it a % of total outs? Or % of AB's? or plate appearances? I know Mike posted a guide to analytics a while back, but I can't find it!

2021-03-30 15:01:48 +0000 UTCI am less concerned about Kluber since my main concern has been health, and he appears healthy. I think he could have some poor outings early in the season thanks to his control issues. Hopefully it is rust and he gains control over his early starts and his command is there by midseason. That feels likely, with the main risk being staying healthy.

2021-03-30 14:58:56 +0000 UTC"2019: 3,698 (1st most … lol)" is CRAZY CAKES. That's nearly 23 complete man-seasons.

2021-03-30 13:57:47 +0000 UTCI hope they don't bat Bruce 6th just because he's a lefty. Should be 9th when the A lineup is out there, and only higher when Wade/Tauchman/Gardy/Higgy are playing (and Gary if he is batting .044).
