Hey Patrons!

Firstly, there’s new Shattered Secrets this week! This is the second Shattered Secrets in a series of three, that give an early peek into the backstories I have planned for the game’s heroes.

In this weekly I’m going to go over current progress for 1.4, and some lore additions!

Progress on v1.4.0 So Far

If you haven’t read it already, I released a blog post a few days ago that summarizes where development progress is at, and also announces to everyone that the blacksmith quest is delayed. You can read it here.

Since that post, I’ve finished up the item changes entirely and made a few more patch fixes. For this week, I plan to focus on changes to the berserker, the game’s tutorial, and initial writing/implementation for those lore additions!

Planned Lore Additions

As mentioned previously, I’m planning to add a lore document to each region of the dungeon. Each of these will be a series of pages written from the perspective of some character that was in the region prior to the hero. Some of these will be quite recent, some quite old. Here’s a quick rundown of what I have planned for each:

• The Sewers document will be a journal kept by a member of the city guard assigned to the sewers. I’m planning to have it fill in some information about what it was like trying to keep the sewers safe in the earlier stages of it becoming a problem.
• The Prison document will be a journal/log kept by the most recent warden of the prison. This will include some personal notes from the warden but will mostly be about the steady decline of the prison.
• The Caves document will be a log kept by a prospector who was send to the caves a while after the dwarven city went silent. This person’s job was to inspect for valuables and evaluate the danger of the region while the prison was being constructed.
• The City document will be a journal by one of the warlocks of DK’s court, starting from shortly before DK rose to power, and detailing what happened to the city during the rapid transition.
• The Halls document will take place shortly before the Dwarf King came to power. I’d like to keep more details on this one a secret for now though ;).
