Candalls appear to be humanoid creatures with two legs, two arms, and a distinctly candle-like body, but biologically speaking this is not the whole story. While this species may look like a singular entity, they are actually made up of millions of smaller creatures, the waxy mass working together to form a singular unit.
Candalls are made up of a semi-solid material that is, in fact, the species itself. They can arrange themselves in almost any form, but the creatures most often present as a living candle. They will seek out rope to place within their malleable form, which then serves as a wick, and they will light this wick to see in darkness. Candalls create faces within their body, typically featuring eyes, nostrils and a gaping mouth, but there is nothing within these holes and they do not actually use them for any senses.
This species spends its time tucked away in the dark, slowly growing larger and larger as these microscopic organisms reproduce. The tallest candall ever reported was approximately ten feet. Their entire lives are dedicated to this pursuit of growing larger, which is done through the consumption of organic matter. Candalls will eat plants, but their preference is to hunt for meat.
When a candall catches its prey, the creature will cook their food by holding it over their flaming head.
