Rootarounds are small, sentient plants from a nearby timeline. These creatures can move in a similar way to biological animals, and while they contain no internal organs, they do somehow possess the ability to see, smell, touch and hear. They cannot taste, however, which makes their preferred diet of fresh dirt and mud likely more appealing.

This species can range in color from yellow, white and purple, but the most common Rootaround hue is orange. The leaves that sprout from the top of a Rootaround’s head change color depending on the health of the creature, but should typically hold a vibrant shade of green.

Rootarounds spend most of their time planted in fresh dirt, where they bury their bodies up to the nose. This allows the creatures to see their surroundings while also consuming as much soil as they want. Unlike most plants, Rootarounds require both sunlight and mineral consumption to grow.

These creatures prefer to plant themselves in beautiful, aesthetically pleasing locations, such as lush gardens, parks, or forests. So long as they have something nice to look at, they will remain planted here and simply observe the world around them. If Rootarounds are disturbed, however, or if there is too much action within their proximity, they will uproot themselves and move to a new location.
