I Don’t Know What I Don’t Know

So this is a random photo from my hotel room. I’m currently in Las Vegas for a girl’s weekend with three HS friends. Seeing as I don’t gamble, have no interest in a male strip show, or clubbing…Vegas is the obvious choice lololol.

But do I like to eat delicious food and swim in pools? Yes. Yes I do. We are also going to see a few shows which I’m stoked about…

But none of that has anything to do with this question. So last night I caught up on The King’s Affection (I had one night in Vegas solo and I took a bath, ordered Taiwanese and watched Kdrama and yes it was amazing)….and it got me thinking how I never knew my favorite trope is apparently gender swaps until Kdrama. I truly love them.

So my question is this…What is a trope you didn’t know you loved until Kdrama showed you the light???

Also if you have any recs on things to do in Vegas that doesn’t involve male strippers, gambling or clubbing—I’m all ears!

I adore the fish out of water trope! -Megan

I also love a gender swap but also a hardcore serial killer with romance 😁 enjoy Vegas!

I have no tips for Vegas... But one of my favorite troupes is the fish out of water/time travel such as Rooftop Prince & Queen and I.

I’m such a time travel sucker. I also was into Outlander — although I’m not sure if I’ve peaced out on series at this point or not. I also adore The Time Traveller’s Wife. Grace here recommended The Go Back Couple that has a cool time travel plot too

Ha I also very much like this highly specific trope!

That piano scene is just beautiful

My kdrama trope of choice: married couples who divorce due to misunderstanding/circumstance and then find their way back to each other. I love that their relationships have an already-established comfort level/intimacy. I love gender swaps too, but only in the historical context. Bc I usually don't see a legit need for the deception in modern contexts (exception, Coffee Prince, which I love). And there needs to be a damn good reason for the sustained deception that gender swaps require. Agree, Vegas is for food and shows :) 😋 and if you are up for it, a trip out to the Grand Canyon. Hope you have a fabulous time 🥰

I feel like it’s so pervasive in KDrama’s but I do really love the chance meeting in the past troupe. A lot of times it’s used very heavy handed but when done well it can really pack a punch. I enjoyed how this was used in CLOY especially when he plays the piano on the dock in Switzerland and it’s one of my favorite scenes in KDrama.

I never knew I loved romantic fantasy or time traveling so much! Or for that matter, contract marriages 💑. As for Vegas, I usually go to the m&m, hershey store, or Belagio fountains. Also, basically do what you are doing and eat lots and lots of food!
