Feedback Poll: Patreon Posts
Added 2023-10-19 22:12:49 +0000 UTCWhen I started my Patreon, I defaulted to a blog/feed kind of style - I make new posts to share new content and I make new posts to share updates to existing content. I'm aware that some creators use a different style, where they post about content once and then update that post.
I've been thinking about switching to the second style due to feedback I've received, both about navigating my Patreon and about finding the most up-to-date version of a mod.
Part of my fear in switching to the second style is whether it will become difficult for members to easily and quickly find updates. I don't want anyone to miss out on content, new or updated.
On the other hand, fewer posts would make it easier to look through my content. Having one post per mod would keep all conversation about that mod in one location, and you would always know that you were getting the most recent version of that mod.
So here's where you can help! I'd love to know your opinions on these two different styles, and if you have a preference for one over the other. I don't receive the emails that you do when I post something new or edit existing posts, so I actually have no idea whether those emails make it easy to find my content or not! Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
(I'll edit this post after it's gone live and notify patrons of the update, so you should get a notification about the edit. It may help with making a decision.)
PLEASE KNOW: Although I'm asking for feedback, I may not make a decision just based on the outcome of the poll. I still need to make sure I'm happy with how I deliver my content. I might even switch to the new style for a trial period, and change back if it isn't working.
Please vote for whichever style of post you prefer, and if you have any other thoughts, feel free to share them in the comments or in personal messages. Thank you!
EDIT: This is an edit, followed by a notification, to allow patrons to see how update notifications are handled by Patreon.

I think collections is a feature that Patreon added while I was on hiatus, so I haven't fully explored it yet. It was mentioned to me by another member, and I plan to take a look at it to see how it could be incorporated to better organize and display content for users!

2023-11-02 08:58:31 +0000 UTCNo problem! Thanks for making content we love! YourFalseHope seems to have started using the Collections feature and I honestly have no complaints there. It makes navigating the facets of a creator's mods a breeze from what i've experienced.

2023-11-01 02:01:02 +0000 UTCIf I do switch to Style 2- which, right now, I'm thinking I may do (or at least trial), I will definitely make sure I include a changelog with dates so that people know what/when something was edited. Good idea, and thank you for the feedback!

2023-10-29 20:06:19 +0000 UTCI've seen people talk about Patreon making some changes about how new content is viewed from the homepage, and I haven't heard anything good about it. I'm curious to know how other users are finding the changes they've made, and whether it's actually better right now than it was or not. Right now, I'm leaning towards at least either a) trying Style 2, or b) looking at the Collections feature that Patreon introduced. Overall, I'd just really like to make sure that things are organized and easy to find for the end user. Thanks for the feedback!

2023-10-29 20:05:02 +0000 UTCClothes aren't updated that frequently - usually not unless I discover a problem of some kind. Anatomy (penises, vaginas, etc) and other similar content (body hair, condoms) get updated more frequently as I make adjustments or add unique extras or add-ons.

2023-10-29 20:02:00 +0000 UTCType 2 , with a master post! As for clothes- how often do you update clothing?

2023-10-28 16:31:50 +0000 UTCPersonally, I prefer creators that use style 2 in conjunction with a master post. Style 1 is hard to follow when browsing the Patreon section that displays the feed from ALL the creators you follow. Old content, Old Posts, New content, and New posts mix interchangeably with themselves and from other creators and I end up having to browse each creator with a fine-tooth comb. When the posts are just updated its less clutter from the overview angle. (I think patreon changed this to be more intuitive but was once a nightmare) I don't mind Style 1 when the tags creators use are METHODICALLY consistent. At least then I can filter and see the relevant posts in a comprehensive order. (your tags often have good rhyme/reason) I've also seen a combo between the two where the Update posts don't contain the file, it simply links/refers you to the OG post which has been updated to have the most recent version.

2023-10-22 06:19:48 +0000 UTCI had the same suggestions, lol. I do not think having a post about a mod update would clutter that much, imo. My only addition to this suggestion is to include a changelog with the date of the last revision/update. The master post makes it easy to quickly jump to the download post and then with the changelog, we can double check if we have the most updated version.

2023-10-20 23:28:42 +0000 UTCI thought about this, I just don't know if update posts would clutter the feed. The other issues - knowing you're getting the right mod, all comments/answers in one location - would still be valid. Something for me to think about for sure. Thank you!

2023-10-20 09:24:50 +0000 UTCMy masterpost can easily be edited to contain links to permanent mod posts, except for clothing. I create too much clothing to link to each one of those posts. Does that change your opinion on style 2/masterposts?

2023-10-20 09:23:18 +0000 UTCMaybe a combination? You could make posts about updates that link to a master post. This way there isn't any risk of users downloading outdated CC AND we are continuously notified of updates.

2023-10-20 06:01:06 +0000 UTCI think the centralized style of #2 just works better for me, but by no means does style #1 drive me away from good content creators! It's just a preference for me, not a dealbreaker.

2023-10-20 00:29:53 +0000 UTCFor me, Style 2 only works with the pinned master post. There are creators that use Style 2 without it and I always have trouble finding the post to download the update.

2023-10-19 23:14:23 +0000 UTCPersonally, I find the easiest Patreons to navigate are those that do 'style 2' combined with a pinned "master post" that has links to all of the correct pages for their content. So basically what you are already doing, combined with style 2.
