Ohhhh friends that is not at all what happened. I DID indeed buy a Cricut, which is an amazing precision-cutter CNC machine type thing. It was a lofty purchase but one that seemed worth it because I wanted to be able to print and cut my own stickers in house. “No problem” I thought. “How hard can it be?”
I should have known better than to use a sentence like “how hard can it be” which is OBVIOUSLY cursed and put a jinx on the whole thing.
By now, the folks who received the last perks will know that I DID eventually triumph over the Cricut (her name is Carolyn) and Carolyn and I have worked through our communication issues and order has been restored to Art in Jest HQ. It was a hard-won battle. I was delighted to be able to include the FIRST EVER stickers I made in house and I thank you all for being here while I figure out this whole endeavour. Maybe I’ll do a video about the whole process? Lemme know if that’s something you’d be interested in.
ALSO please do tell me, have you had to learn a new skill recently? Been vexed by something you thought would be easy? Solidarity friends! Thank you all for providing the loveliest little community to share my foibles. It is MUCH nicer to fail when you can share the hapless journey and eventual success with you beautiful patrons.
I’m so enjoying making the custom comics for the HyperNovas. If you haven’t already, if you’re in that tier before the end of August, send me a note with a funny moment or joke and I will turn it into a mini zine for you! Turning the world into a comic one little story at a time friends.
Happiest summer days you beautiful people.
