For some reason I often associate this book in my head with Hesse’s The Glass Bead Game. I think the latter shows a (relatively) more benign version of this kind of academia.

I was looking forward to a dark, sexy exploration of mania and subversive thought. Instead, I found Tartt to be dreadfully Catholic, shearing the edges off of myth with a stubborn insistence. You really nailed the Types of Guys in there, tho. Great episdoe!

2024-11-07 20:24:56 +0000 UTCEven going past the gore the Saw series is terrible because ｅｖｅｒｙｔｈｉｎｇ ｉｓ ｃｏｎｎｅｃｔｅｄ, so as the series goes on it fills with DRAMATIC FLASHBACKS that an Indian soap opera would think is excessive.
