2024-02-29 02:39:17 +0000 UTCI really don't think there was a difference in dynamic between River and Mal/Jayne at the START of the movie. In fact Mal was kind of formally giving River crew responsibilities for the first time with the bank job. And Jayne rushed over concerned when she fell and trusted her that the reavers were coming. Later when she started the fight in the bar, Jayne asked no questions and knocked out one of her attackers before trying to get her to calm down. When the dynamic changed though, is when they saw that she could not BE calmed down, and would attack or kill anyone, including her own crew. So I think it makes perfect sense, BUT the problem is this EXACT same subject matter was the plot of the finale. If it wasn't back to back like this, and there were more normal episodes between the finale and the movie before it came up again it might not feel that way. We only got a few minutes of the normal dynamic before it drastically changes.
