wip ⋆｡°✩ under the sea
Added 2024-07-31 01:02:23 +0000 UTCi feel like i don't often post in-progress shorts of my work aside from the sketch so here's a little wip!! my process varies but in general, i enjoy going from sketch to color block because if the colors don't look good to me i tend to feel personally lost when i don't know the direction of the piece! by having a rough color block i feel more assured in terms of color palette/direction, making it easier for me to refine the details of the shapes knowing how i can shift color to make everything feel harmonious and cohesive.
i think i'm going to shift more to the warm undertone in the end piece but we'll see~ i wanted to really capture a pastel rainbow effect for this sticker sheet! my idea was to do an under the sea fashion theme and include plushies/toys for a softer cozy feeling! playing with screentone / halftone effect also gives the flat colors such a fun and playful effect which i've been enjoying lately... i recently used the dot effect on my asian snacks illo too!
real talk though... looking up reference for creatures under the sea was honestly so scary LOL the ocean kinda scares me but it is also such a beautiful place full of mystery and wonder T w T but yea. a little bit scary HAHA... anyways hope you guys enjoy the little sneak peek! i'm wrapping on shop orders tonight / tomorrow and will be finishing up this piece this week!
