🦊 Ep.3 - Tale of The Nine Tailed | REACTION

Comments

Yes, we’re probably confused because people usually use it to protect themselves from evil but who’s to say it can’t protect evil from other evil haha

Mali

wow such an interesting episode. i have so many questions, would love to know your thoughts on the story till now. when Lee Yeon called his powers it reminded me of when Naruto goes to his nine tailed fox state. The shot was so amazing. When Ji Ah choked Lee Yeon, she was possessed by Imugi. Can't wait for the next episode.

Same! I tried to do a little research so I am not here telling them lies but most articles mention it as a 'good fortune' that wards off evil and people buying them for whatever good they need in their life. But I do not see how that little devil reincarnate needs good luck tbh which is why I said maybe they just hold any type of energy that it is cursed/blessed with

I’m also not entirely sure about the Bujeok. It is generally believed to ward off evil spirits and offer protection and fortune and so on but ultimately every talisman differs depending on the writings and symbols on them. This means that they can be custom made depending on the receiver’s needs, they’re not all the same. For example if you were to get one for your sick parent then you’d naturally get one that mostly promises good health. I did try to do some research on the meanings of the talismans of this particular scene but wasn’t successful lol but the gist of it ultimately always comes down to protection anyways so that’s enough to know imo

I'm not 100% on this but this is what happened from my understanding: The snake = Imugi Back then Imugi most likely possessed Lee Yeon's lover Ah Eum. So he had to kill her and Imugi died. But he stopped the boat that was taking her soul over the river and made sure she would be reborn. This is how a part of Imugi survived and it was protected by the shaman family / they served him and made human sacrifices. In the end you weren't sure what you were supposed to see at the eerie shot of the well, it was Ji Ah's blood dripping down. Remember her hand was cut with a knife by the shaman lady. Also the shaman had some kind of benefits from serving Imugi that allowed her to live longer, hence she appeared younger than she actually is, her true appearance was visible in the reflection. The yellow "post-its" on the baby are talismans btw, they are called Bujeok and are common in Shamanism. They are believed to ward off evil spirits and offer protection, healing, prosperity and good fortune. I completely forgot how suspenseful and creepy this episode was in particular, rewatching it was amazing! Your shocked faces were hilarious haha, for example when you realized they ate him when they were lost at sea. Remember last episode it was said that his body actually returned to the island before his head did so now you understand what that was about 😅 I laughed out loud at the firefox pun btw 😂 Another thing I forgot was how cool the female lead of this drama is ugh I'm so in love with her!

Wow so much happened. And I still remember in bits and pieces. I think I just watched 1 or 2 more eps after this. Now I am curious what comes next.

It's been a while since I've been back to patreon because school has literally been dragging me around by my hair. It has been intense but I have missed watching with you guys and so far I have caught up with this show. I watched this show so long ago and I don't even remember most details so it feels like I am watching with you guys now. And I don't think you guys are missing a lot, from what I remember the first few episodes were confusing, and things started making more sense as the show went on. The only think you might have missed on is (unless you were jokng about the post) the little yellow papers that were attached to the baby are called Bujeok (I think lol). They are talismans that you can get from Shamans (I think the lady in white that was doing the ceremony by the beach was one), I had thought the yellow papers held good energy/luck but maybe they just hold any type of energy that they are cursed with. The longer you watch kdramas (especially ones that are set in historical times or ones that have mixed elements like this show) the more you will understand little tidbits of information like this. Anyways I really enjoyed your reaction and hopefully I can still find the time to enjoy the show with you guys.

I wish I could watch it right away but I’m going to the movies with my mom😩 Back from the movies now so it's finally time to watch the episode😍 I’m soooo tired right now so I’ll keep this comment a little shorter than usual, plus there isn’t really much to comment on since most things will be explained later on. You just need to keep all the information in the back of your mind so that you can make sense of it later😊 But here some stuff that I don’t know if you missed or if you just didn’t vocalize that you caught it: - Yu-ri (the one Lee Yeon’s friend talked to in the restaurant) is Lee Rang’s friend/accomplice. We’ve seen her a few times before but not a lot so that’s why I wasn’t sure if you recognized her. - The shaman that tried to sacrifice Ji-ah is the same women in white we’ve been seeing doing the ritual for the daughter and also talking with Lee Rang. She was also the one putting up the poles with the white ribbons by the sea. - The sailor that died by drowning didn’t actually drown himself in the toilet. Because of the “curse” he got struck after he dunked his head under water and couldn’t get out. - I don’t know if you caught on but the way the two sailors died was pretty ironic. When they were stuck on the life boat they kept complaining about thirst and hunger. Now in present time they were doing the same thing. One kept saying he was thirsty and couldn’t stop drinking water and the other one was so hungry that he even ate raw meat (I think that’s what it was) The storyline with Imugi has officially started and to be honest I didn’t remember that it was so early on in the drama😂 I’m not gonna talk a lot about Imugi cause everything will be explained later on but the only thing you need to know is that Lee Yeon killed it, but it was implied that because he stopped the boat with Ah-eum on it, the Imugi never fully died (Why? you'll find out later). Lee Rang wanted to bring it back and that’s why they did the ritual. We have a little more backstory to why the brothers relationship is the way it is and also that they are half-brothers. But I’m just gonna keep calling Lee Rang the younger brother. It’s just gonna keep picking up from here and there is so much more that’s gonna happen! It’s going to be a roller coaster ride of emotions!
