Remastered art showcase
Added 2022-04-15 00:35:24 +0000 UTCIn this reworked edition of ORS I added and remade some illustrations, and enhanced others. Some old art just needed a bit of editing to make it pop much more, and bring it closer to the quality level of the latest CGs.
Originally I wasn't going to touch the first LenaxIan scene, but I felt it looked way too lacklustre compared to the latest Cindy one, for example. So I did these last minute, squeezing them in between the final play-testing and bug-fixing. And I'm glad I did, because I think the images now look way more vibrant.
This last one I remade entirely. I still think the first one was pretty good (and I may re-purpose it for a later scene), but I felt like this first LenaxIan scene needed something special, so I couldn't resist.
What do you think? Do you notice the difference while playing, or it doesn't add much to your experience? Did you notice other old scenes that have been enhanced like this one?

Aren't IT-guys kind of artists themselves ;) ? The difference is just that Stan already made it instead of Ian, who is still struggeling. You are right though, Ian is much more balanced and versatile, but I have a feeling that a leaner Stan with a little more self esteem could live up to that. Maybe, we'll see that in the next game of Eva: "Stan, the programmer" *g*.

2022-04-22 15:19:33 +0000 UTCI don't think there's any danger of overlap with Ian, because aside from any other physical characteristics Ian/Lena share the "starving artist" and "burned by cheating lover" connections, and they're both the most grounded/balanced of their respective circle of friends. In fact, as the game is now it's hard for *anyone* to compete with the Ian/Lena dynamic, least of all a character like Stan that's struggling to fit in.

2022-04-22 14:04:27 +0000 UTCHad to think about your arguments - they have their truth, but it might also be a bit of perspective: You may be thinking about the usual "hot girl" that invested a lot in her body and wants a hot/rich guy next to her. But what about the naturally beauty ones? Lena can be both and in the natural path, she might not look so much about looks or status. She could just like a nice guy who is not olny into her for her body. Yeah, this might be a fairies tale, but I can't help but dream of some not superficial, naturally beautiful girls out there ;) . If you don't believe in my tales, we still have the sexual tension aspect. The way Lena thinks about Stan, she gets some kicks from seeing how extremly he reacts on her beauty. So, in laymans terms, he could be some kind of slave (not in a physical, sm-way) to her. Someone she might only let kiss her feets in the extreme path. In a not so extreme path, he even could be good father material: Truely in love, intelligent, trustful, caring and able to pay for the family. She might not even need some sexy guy in her live (VN-untypical, where all girls crave for sex way more often than once a month ;) ) or get her sexual kicks from Jeremy with Stan watching ;) . Additionally, I think, if Stan would loose some weight, there would not be enough difference to Ian - except a little less social skills. What do you think?

2022-04-22 13:56:21 +0000 UTCWell, there's supposed to be some romantic potential between Stan and Lena, right? Or at the very least some sexual tension, even if one-sided. It looks like it wants to be a mirror of the Perry/Emma dynamic, but Stan is missing something. Either Stan needs more sex appeal (say, lose the 50 pounds of spare tire) OR a more outgoing personality (something like a lovable nerd that's not ashamed of it, e.g.) OR something to make any kind of relationship, or even a friendship all that believable, in my opinion. I just don't think Stan fits comfortably into the narrative so far, not as the story places him anyway.

I would have never thought it was missing without seeing the better version next to it, though. EDIT: I really liked Lena's position of her head in the last original picture - so sensual! But the reast of the new scene is clearly better :) . I just hope you don't drift to far into Manga-style (fireworks, ahego, self-lighting characters) ;) .

2022-04-20 22:17:33 +0000 UTCThe main difference is the lighting, correct? Although if my eyes don't deceive me that's a product of brighter more golden lighting in Lena's room overall. I found the changes to Stan and Billy a little more interesting, making both of them *slightly* less clownish in appearance. I still can't help but feel that the design of Stan is missing the mark... seems like the story wants him to look/act more like Perry (a sort of redeemable hot mess of social anxiety disorder) but he doesn't look the part.
