I think this story could be a really cool parallel journey of diving into the abyss for our main characters but in different ways. As we know Reg came from the Abyss and was mostly fine reaching the top thanks to his abilities. While just like in this episode Riko is almost completely powerless against the Abyss and its creatures but has a lot of knowledge and spirit for this adventure and the quest of finding her mom. So Reg's journey can be a much more spiritual and mental one diving into the Abyss as one of his main goals is finding out who he is. But he may not like what he finds at the end. Meanwhile Riko’s can be much more in the physical sense as she will try to progress on her journey toward finding her mom and enjoying this amazing road to the bottom. But again who knows what obstacle she will need to face with its outcomes that may entail different futures to her ideas.
