The Docks of the Dead

Hi everyone! As you know, I've taken this month off drawing just to recharge the old creative muscles and catch up on a whole list of things... But that doesn't mean I don't have anything *at all* to share.

Last month I undertook a top-secret commission from the folks at D&D Beyond for their recent LEGENDS OF RUNETERRA: DARK TIDES OF BILGEWATER adventure guide (you can see our map in the wild 2020-06-20 16:28:55 +0000 UTC View Post

Greybanner, Part 2: Locations in Town

Troy's next installment of The Town of Greybanner is live, and it covers the many points of interest within the town. Feel free to use the town as a whole or just loot it for its bits and pieces. You won't be charged for this post (unless you support Troy on his Patreon) so please consider it a fun bonus. :)

Your 2-Minute June Update

Hi again! It's a confused, turbulent year so far and I hope you are all safe and well. I just want to send you my best wishes before we get back to the maps, and I hope that tabletop games (and by extension, my drawings) can be a modest haven for you.

May is behind us but I am still putting the icing on the last few reward items. I really appreciate your patience! I would prefer to release them a little late and release something that's better quality, and I hope you feel the same way. ...

The Meadow Ruins Battle Map

The wind whips over the plains painting swift streaks through the grass. It sings a mournful tune amidst the loose brickwork of the old village, and cuts through every fold of your clothes to fill you with cold and dread.

Hello again! This is map number three for the month of May, and is a scene that I've been meaning to paint for a long time. Somehow, despite them being such important places in fantasy worlds and interesting places to do battle in, I have so few ruins!  View Post

Basic Building Assets

Hi there! I hope your weekend is off to a good start.

I'm doing things a bit differently this month as a *super secret project* has put me in a major crunch and I need to really optimize in order to get everything out that I'd hoped to.

More on that later, but for now: the Basic Building Assets.

This is the first pack in a trio of maps you're going to see over the next 24 hours, and it's one that the Discord community has been excited to see come together! Ins...

A Quick Update on Patreon's Upcoming Sales Tax

Hi everyone!

Due to new laws passing in several countries and US states Patreon will be required to start charging a sales tax on some pledges starting July 1st. Apparently, this will affect less than half of all users, and will be a small amount between 4-11%.

Whether you'll be affected depends on your location and local laws. For example, I'm an Australian and will be charged 10% in GST, my local sales tax. You can look up what you'll be charged (if anything) on this page:

The Infested Crypt Battle Map

This crypt had served as the honored resting place of a band of heroes, but now has been infested by some foul intruder. Just how deep does its webbed tunnels go..?

As an Australian, one of my greatest everyday fears is spiders. Whether it's walking through their strong webs on an otherwise peaceful stroll or finding them dangling over my pillow, they will never cease to make me wish I had an IRL Divine Smite for the fiends.

Part of that fear was channeled into this map, ...

Your 2-Minute May Update

Good morning everyone! April is wrapped up and a new month lies before us filled with potential maps and assets.

This year I have finally settled into a monthly routine. It looks like this: dungeon, building, battle map, wild card, and you can see this in last month's Yeti Lair, Simple Stable, Shipyard, and Horse Figurines.

I feel that dungeons and buildings are two indispensable pillars, so they are what I try and tackle first. After that, a "battle map" or...

Horse Figurines & Tokens

Hi everyone! I'm excited to finally announce these, as they have been an ongoing experiment over the last two months and I have only ever shared them on Discord.

They're part token, part papercraft and, so far as I know, something quite new! Hardly groundbreaking sure, but something quite new.

Primarily they are easily constructed paper figurines! As seen above, you c...

Horse Figurines & Tokens Additional Rewards

Hello, Silver and Gold level Patrons! Please allow me to bundle your rewards together for this release, as it is a rather unique one, being part token pack and part papercraft.

It turns out that tokens are rather puzzling when it comes time to create Silver and Gold rewards, especially with the Token Editor on the scene. Tokens don't lend themselves to the assets I usually offer as the Silver Reward, and the variants that I could make for the Gold level are made redundant by the Token E...

The Shipyard Battle Map

The busy shipyard of a prosperous port city. These docks bear much cargo ready to be loaded, and a small warehouse holds even more.

These docks are inspired by the harbor of Saint Denis in Red Dead Redemption 2, sans railway track and other period-defining features! Mine are a simple collection of jetties with space enough in the center for the Galleon to moor.

I knew when I began that layout would be important, as I didn't want to simply have a series of wooden walkways....

Shipyard Map Assets

32 assets from the Shipyard map. These include a gangplank, cranes, cargo, ropes and, as requested, a collection of wooden railing. Please enjoy!

These come in 300 DPI and Roll20- and Fantasy Grounds-optimized formats, ready for your virtual tabletop or image editor of choice.

Shipyard Map Variants

I don't think I can draw anything made of wood without creating a fiery variant. You Discord folk demanded it, and here it is!

Inside you will find burning ship, rainy, and grimdark variants, as well as nighttime colorations for each. I hope that these will satisfy whatever mood you might need for your own, personal shipyard!

The Simple Stable Battle Map

The orderly stable of a venerable farmer, where his beloved horses shelter in luxury. Beams of happy sunlight filter through the roof slats, and the rich smell of straw buzzes in the nostrils.

Howdy folk! A stable battle map has been on my to-draw list since I finished up the inn, and now we finally have a place for your adventuring mounts to spend the night in comfort.

Five horse-sized stalls line the interior of this weatherproof building, and a staircase and crane acce...

Simple Stable Map Assets

Simple Stable Map Variants

An exciting collection of stables in different states! Thanks to everyone on Discord for helping me come up with some of these ideas. There's a dramatic burning version, a wintry version, an overgrown version, and one that has been inhabited by bandits.

The Yeti Lair Battle Map

A yeti lair deep in the bowels of a frozen mountain. To raise their young, yetis of this land will line the walls of their cave nest with their shed fur, and the excrement they use as mortar is a potent deterrent to intruders...

My latest cave battle map is based on an encounter I built for my players where, being faced with a mountain range and blocked by winter snows, their only way forward was through an abandoned mining tunnel. Unfortunately, this tunnel had been claimed by...

Yeti Lair Map Variants

When I began with the idea of "fur-lined yeti lair" I expected to have a hard time making variants for such a specific map, but it turned out to be quite easy!

  • A cave, filled with ash, into which lava is creeping
  • A mossy cave partially filled by a landslide
  • Desert sand pouring into a cool cave where plant...

How to Run a Cave Adventure

Greetings! Today we have a brand new (bonus) adventure guide / resource to share with you.

Troy's latest article tackles the ins-and-outs of caves in great detail - the perfect resource if you want to take your players underground.

Our cave encounters are done but we’re not in the clear yet! Running the connective moments and making full use of the environment is just as important for a cave adventure as the encounters themselves. Every terrain is unique and should ...

Your 2-Minute April Update

Good morning everyone! I'm afraid I don't have any April Fools jokes for you, just a hearty 2-Minute update.

If I had planned it in advance I would have called it Magic March, or something like that, because the past month unintentionally took on a very high-fantasy magical theme. We have a magical dungeon, store, and terrain feature! Why, even the vineyard seems like a likely investment for a well-to-do wizard.

This March I released...
