Weekly Update 19th Feb

Hey All,

Bit of catching up to do this week! If you missed it, here’s this week’s video on hitting things with a bow, inspired at least in part by a question from one of you!

Foot positioning tip

This will help with moves like Cupid and Spider-Man, or anything else that uses downward-facing foot grip!

EDIT: whoops, I meant to schedule this for tomorrow! Hey-ho, have an early pole tip!

A simple grip change drop

If you’re looking to make your drops more dynamic, changing position is a great way to do this! This is a relatively simple version that hopefully ends in a move that should be stable and familiar. With grip changes, the end move needs to be one that you can do very well, so keep practicing!

Home (and gym) exercises for pole (2/2)

Obviously there are more exercises than this, and you can go into a lot more technical detail, but hopefully this is a decent starting point!

Home (and gym) exercises for pole (1/2)

This is one of the more common questions I get in my in-person classes, so I figured I’d share here as well!

Photoshoot Preview

Here are some images that Null Entity took this weekend. The goal was to produce some fantasy-style art references, so we had a few combat scenarios revolving around the pole, and couldn’t resist trying some Spider-Man poses too! The full sets will be shared here when they’re ready, with a few shots publicly available.

Update 13th Feb

Hey all! Thanks again for all your support! If you missed it, here’s this week’s video.

It’s been a fun but busy weekend with the photoshoot, but there will be some exciting things to show for it over the next few weeks!

Pole Drops: upside-down dropping!

There are a lot of advantages to doing a drop upside-down: they are generally more balanced (because you hang from a support point rather than balancing above them), look more impressive, and it’s usually easier to gauge the distance to the ground, allowing you to get very close before stopping (if you can hold your nerve!).

The downside is that if you’re not confident in them, they can feel scary! Remember, never take a drop further than you feel confident!

My biggest pair of heels

Just a silly little video really, but in all honesty, training with any added weight on the ends of your legs can make a big difference!

Weekly Update 5th Feb

Thanks for all your ongoing support! I would say sorry for the stretching at the beginning, but you’ve all followed me here because of or despite my videos by now!

My most recent video is up here if you’ve missed it, but otherwise, let me know here or in messages if you have any requests or suggestions for art references you’d like to see and I’ll try to get them done this weekend!...

Janeiro tutorial part 2: moving it up the pole

Janeiro is HARD, but it’s not complicated. The tricky thing is that it’s about balancing in a position that most people will never be in in their life. The key, as with any balance move, is to keep training, working on different angles and adjustments until it starts to click!

Janeiro Tutorial part 1: prep

Janeiro is SUPER finicky, but it can be learned if you’re persistent! This is some of the background and prep before we go for the full thing!

Brass Monkey Tutorial

Before I can really cover Janeiro, we first need to get comfortable with Brass Monkey. Maybe I’ll do dangerous Brian next week, just to cover my favourite move names!

Static spin with a dynamic exit (part 3- levelling up)

Here are a couple of ways to increase the speed and energy of the combo

Static spin with a dynamic exit (part 2- entry)

Once we’ve worked out the end of the sequence, it’s time to go back to the beginning!

Static spin with a dynamic exit (part 1- exit)

is a little mini combo that I learned at the pole camp- let’s start by learning this dynamic exit!

Pole Camp Moves

Sorry this is a bit delayed coming out! It feels like a lot more more than a week since I was in Turkey at this incredible pole training camp, and it’s always a bit of a bump coming back to reality! But here are some highlights of some of the moves and tricks I got up to while I was there.

Let me know if you have any faves that you’d like a tutorial of (obviously not the ones that I can only do with someone throwing me round 😂)

A Question about Merch

TL;DR: would you buy a cute plushy of my archer persona?

As my social media presence has grown, the topic of merch has come up a few times, but I’ve generally dismissed it because (and this may just be imposter syndrome talking) it often feels like it would be kind of… self-centred? Self-aggrandising? Something like that, anyway.

Aaanyway, fast forward to this week, and I’ve been contacted by a company that make themed plushies of all things, asking if I’d like to collabo...

Superman: ‘Flip’ entry (part 1)

This is a really fun and interesting entry into superman. It can take a while to master, but once you do, it can in many ways feel easier than ‘regular’ entries from knee hook or cradle.

Weekly Update: back in the UK

I’m back! I had a great time last week and will try to show you all some of what I got up to over the coming week or two! I also have a lot of messages, etc. to catch up on, so sorry if you’re waiting on a reply to something.

In the meantime, here’s this week’s main video on Pole Dance vs Stripping, and keep an eye out for a video on common archery errors in media, releasing Sunday...

Bailing Safely part 2 (and bonus blooper)

Another exercise for landing safely. Make sure you’re happy with the others, and start slow, using your legs for control.

The last clip is from a failed attempt at a new drop this week, and you can see some of the bail technique in action!

Buzz Lightyear talked about falling with style, but this is falling with control, which is arguably more important!
