Goddess of the Yacht

Though not in our usual desert setting, this shot is turning out to be one of our favorites.  We've had several people comment on Instagram that it looks like a painting.  I'm just going to say that Elle looks like the Goddess of the Vintage Yacht--a 1947 Chris Craft yacht that is!  

We may very well make this one into a print!  For now, we hope you enjoy!

BTS @ The Shady Dell

Here's a time lapse BTS video of our most recent shoot at The Shady Dell Vintage Trailer Park.  We actually booked a stay in a 1947 Chris Craft Yacht.  Elle was really digging the green stained class :)

BTW: thanks to those of you who have provided feedback on your BTS videos.  We are going to start working on better video edits vs just uploading raw footage.  Stay tuned ;)

Bisbee & The Shady Dell Vintage Trailer Park

We headed down to the small mining town/hippie enclave of Bisbee.  Had a great shoot at The Shady Dell vintage trailer park ( as evidenced above).  We stayed in a 1947 Chris Craft yacht.  We can't wait to show you the rest!

Real Quick

So, last week we headed down to SE Arizona  and the town of Willcox, home of old school, cowboy country singer Rex Allen aka "The Arizona Cowboy".  We were on a mission taking advantage of the October New Moon to capture the Milky Way in Chiricahua National Monument.  

On the way home we made our way through Saguaro National Park.  We couldn't resist jumping out for a quick few shots ;)

Blazin'

When Liz (@lizzieblaze_ on IG) originally approached us about wanting to shoot in the desert among some giant saguaros, we knew just the place. Heading up the 87N on the way to Payson is a rather abundant saguaro forest with some very old cacti with many arms.  (BTW it can take up to 30 years for a saguaro to sprout an arm.). 

Unfortunately the entire saguaro forest was wiped out by one of of the largest wild fires in the history of Arizona--the Bush Fire, stretching fro the e...

Stunning

@irinademre (on IG) drove in and back from San Diego to shoot for The Naked Desert!  And, while we definitely created some bangin' content,  all of us were rewarded by one of the most stunning desert sunsets we had every had the honor of experiencing!

Not sure if we will post as many BTS vids as last month; although, we thought you'd enjoy this one in particular ;) 

We attempt a lot of shapes and compositions, but a majority never make it out of storage.  (Or, we save those files for a rainy day when we have a fresh perspective and clear mind to see an image in a different, more objective way.  Is it worth editing and posting?)

As we enter into fall, we wanted to be sure to thank you for you continued support.  It really does mean a lot to us, and we are grateful to be able to share our work the way nature intended :)

Fall is coming....

Arizona's heat gets milder by the day.  It's time to start thinking about trekking out to natural, primitive hot springs!

(BTW these are some archive shots we decided to bring back into the rotation-shot well before the concept of The Naked Desert was conceived.)

Zoomed out....

This new normal: while there are a lot of advantages (no commute, extra time, saving on gas money), we are starting to get a little stir crazy with sitting down all day, Zoom after Zoom after Google Meet after Webex Meeting.  And, we can see it with our daughters after 5 hours on their Chromebooks because of online school. 

The weather is turning toward fall here.  Yes, we've been away for too long. It's time to return to our base, the desert.  We Shall Return!

Prequel app

Honestly, we're not a big fan of using photo filter apps.  We really prefer to "create" our look, our aesthetic, through our evolving Lightroom & Photoshop skills.  I think our clients appreciate the fact they are purchasing something that took time and effort vs just slapping on a canned filter that will degrade over all image quality.

That being said, we really do like some of the effects we can pull out of the Prequel App.  We do like the vibes.  It's all abou...

Testing, testing....

Well, we are finally at a point where we can start growing our Patreon and adding more content such as promised Behind-the-Scene videos for our Senita and Sonoron Tier patrons.  We do thank you for your patience.

Full disclosure: we are not videographers (nor do we aspire to be at this point in our business, but who knows....).  Hopefully you get a sense of what a photoshoot is like for us in our wonderful Arizona desert.

Four more months of...

...2020.

What a year.  

This summer, the monsoon was a dud here in AZ. In fact it's been dubbed: The Nonsoon.  We are well below our summer rain total average. Not only was it a dry summer, but Arizona saw the most 110 degree days and the most 115 degree days... ever.  We also seemed to have a record amount of wild fires that burned a record amount of acreage in our sacred desert.  It was brutal.  

But, this morning, at 5am, it was 77 degrees as a be...

Well, August turned out to be our biggest month so far here on Patreon.  With all sincerity, we'd like to thank you for your continued support.  Like it states in our bio, we intended to start small then try to grow as time goes on.  So, it looks like it's time to grow our Patreon--including to finally getting around to posting videos.  BTW it looks like Vimeo is the best supported option for Patreon.

Here's Denielle again (@elle.ohhh.elle on Instagram).  This particular spot tucked away in that enigmatic place called Arcosanti without a doubt has some of our most favorite light in all of the "photo shoot spots" we know.  It is consistent, diffused, and the results are undeniable, right?

Bonus Post from the Wynn Las Vegas!

We've been on quite a run, and luckily things will slow down over the next two weeks so I can get caught up on editing and client work.  If you've been following our Stories on Instagram, you saw that we had a wedding gig in Las Vegas last weekend.  Beautiful bride, comped luxury car rental (which BTW died on us in the middle of Valley of Fire State Park), and, as you can see, a very nice (comped) room in the Wynn with a great view :)

We are proud of this Milky Way nude!

We did plan to take some nude Milky Way shots in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.  As we were hiking in toward the Toadstool Hoodoos, we wondered if it would all be for naught.  The sky was overcast.  But, we pressed on.  After about an hour on location the clouds began to dissipate.  And, to our surprise the Milky Way was vertically aligning with a rather obviously phallic hoodoo.  How serendipitous!  Though there were still some clouds obsc...
