Happy 2020! A new decade and a new month to share something new and something old on our Patreon! Today we present you with the song "Shameless", another oddity from The Tea Club’s top secret archive that only YOU, our Beloved Patrons, can access!
Careful listeners might recognize this guitar part. Imagine it slowed down... played on an electric rather than acoustic guitar... That’s right, it’s featured in “Creature” from our latest album ...

It was 7 years ago this month that we released our 3rd album, Quickly Quickly Quickly. When we went to record demos for that album, we recorded a total of 12 songs. 4 of them were selected for Quickly. 6 of them were properly recorded and intended to be on an immediate follow up album to Quickly, but we’re never officially released. The remaining 2 other songs, however, never made it past the demo stage. This is one of them... “The Woods Near Jim’s House”.

As some of you may know, when we went in to record Quickly Quickly Quickly, we actually recorded two albums worth of material, and were planning on releasing a companion album to Quickly in 2013. However, due to line up changes in the band, we wound up scrapping it and working on the songs that would become our 2015 album Grappling instead.
This is a video of me recording the acoustic guitar track for the unreleased song "Graphic Historical Film Violence", whi...

A few months ago I was asked to do a solo set with my friend Ben Rosenbach's band Our Alarm Clock for their album release show. I didn't have very much time to practice, so I wound up doing some acoustic versions of Tea Club material and some covers.
I got it into my head that I would end the show by covering my favorite solo Phil Collins song, "Take Me Home", but I kept putting off learning it. I actually wound up learn...

Happy First Day of Autumn, Beloved Patrons! This special day requires a special post from The Tea Club's archive.
This is "Hammer-Heads", a song that I hold very dearly in my heart. It always reminds me of the Fall. It was inspired by the whimsy of The Beatles' White Album, which I was listening to constantly, as well as The Wizard of Oz. In our home, it was a family tradition to watch The Wizard of Oz movie every year in the Fall. That year, I had begun reading the or...

One of my favorite things about being in The Tea Club is hearing what my brother Patrick is going to come up with next. He's always writing awesome and interesting chord progressions on the guitar, and I think it's the secret behind the power of our band!
I just rediscovered this video I took of Pat at Big Blue Meenie Studios recording his guitar part for "Dr. Abraham", a song from our 2015 album Grappling. I think this is a prime example of what I'm talking about. This is a re...

As the new Tea Club album was being recorded and mixed, Joe Dorsey said to me something along these lines: "I'm making an album of video game music. I've been wanting to do it for years and I just need to do it now." I said "PLEASE LET ME BE INVOLVED." So I started to send him some old demos of songs I had written on the keyboard that were intended to be video game songs from all the way back to 2002. Joe loved it and started reworking those demos into full fledged songs. Pat McGowan heard wh...

Here’s an oddity from The Tea Club archive, from when we were writing Grappling!
I was enjoying rediscovering my 1996 Yamaha PSR 225 keyboard around 2013, and wound up writing a bunch of cool little tunes using the keyboard’s multitrack feature. They allowed me to do one of my favorite things musically, which is to create sick drum beats. We’ve already posted two of the songs from that time here on Patreon, “2019-05-29 17:58:50 +0000 UTC

This song is actually one of my favorite things that we've ever shared with you beloved Patrons! It's an improv that we recorded during the writing sessions for our 2015 album Grappling, and it's called "Rat In the Basement". It started at practice late one night, when our bassist Jamie Wolff and our drummer-at-the-time Joe Rizzolo found themselves locked into a slinky bass and drum groove. When Pat started creepily whispering "There's a rat...

Hey Patrons! I wanted to share this image with you. It's the cover for the long awaited 2nd issue of the Grappling comic book that we've been working on to expound upon the mysterious lyrics on our 2015 album Grappling. I have been hard at work, trying to improve my skills as a comic book penciller, inker, and colorist. There is so much that goes into making a comic book good, and it hasn't been easy, but I am really happy with the way this cover is turning out! (Technical issue: The...
