Undertale - Week 4

I've started working on various 3d models for the level now. I finished all of the models in the kitchen, as well as most of the models in the first room. I'm only missing one 3d model in the first room and then that will be done too.

Undertale - Week 3

This week I've mainly been continuing on with modeling the ruins level. I started working on Toriel's house, and some other rooms here and there. At this point I'm almost finished with the outline of the level, then I'll start going in and making some of the 3d models in Magica Voxel.

I included some pictures at the end to show how much progress I've made, and I'm definitely getting closer to the end of the modeling portion.

New Audience for the Beach Concert + More

A couple new things this week. First off is that Rodrigo added some NPCs with new animations to be the audience of the concert area in the beach level. There's also some props to set the area like plastic chairs, beach towels, and drink coolers.

Undertale 3D - Week 2

I spent this week working on some of the decorative parts of the level. So adding things like the vines and leaves, and also some of the signs placed around the level. There are also some sections where the wall or floor texture is replaced with a cracked one.

Also, I saw some of the suggestions from the last post to add a ceiling. I'm probably going to finish everything first and then see what adding the ceiling will look like towards the end.

Hub World Update + New Animation Poses

A few different things to show this time. First is the hub world renders that Nogam made in Magica Voxel. The area is somewhat based off of a music festival like Coachella, so there are stages everywhere to select the different main menu options (single player, multiplayer, etc.). There is also a play area at the bottom. When playing online, people will be able to join your hub world while waiting for a race, so players can practice on a little mini race track, play around with some items, or...

Undertale 3D - Week 1

A different type of video this week. I figured it would be easier to just explain what I've been doing instead of editing a video together with text like I've been doing.

Beach Concert Area

Another update on the beach level. We have a little mini concert area, and eventually we'll have it so that you can hear the audio from the concert when you get closer. 

We also finished the music for the level. There's a different version that plays when you are above water and underwater. I'm only going to be showing a preview of it today though.

Progress on beach level + Sketches for a hub world

We've got some more progress on the beach level to share. We've added a little clothing store area where there are NPCs who are working, and other NPCs who are browsing through the clothes.

There's also some new NPCs with some new animations on the beach. Rodrigo hasn't committed these changes to the GitHub repo yet, so I just took a screenshot of the video he sent me on discord for these.

We Spent Over 1 Year Updating Our First Game

Finally finished with a new devlog for the game. It's set to release on my channel on Saturday, but I'll give it to you guys here early.

The PowerUp Update

We've finished work on most of the powerups so far, and it's time to show them off. 

This is footage taken directly from the next video I'm working on. I worked on this section first so that I could upload this for you guys. The video is going to be around 16 minutes long in total, so there's still about 12 minutes of video left for me to edit. I'm hoping the video will be out either next week or the week after that.

New Movement Animations: Before/After

Here's a comparison of how the character looks in gameplay now compared to how it used to look. There are a lot of new animations as well as some new movement mechanics.

Some of the most noticeable changes are the walking/running, a new landing animation, a new rolling animation, a new hit animation, and some new idle animations.

Tree Springs Resort Level: Before / After

Here's a look at our first attempt at a level. Overall I'm pretty happy with the modeling and the structure of the level itself, but I still think it needs some work. I think it needs better lighting, a better skybox (we're just using a default one right now lol), and probably some better particle effects. I also think the background of the level looks pretty bland at the moment. There are just a couple of barren trees surrounding the one the level is on, and some smoke towards the bottom so ...

Progress on the beach level so far

Here's an update on how the beach level is going so far. You can still see some temporary assets and unfinished stuff, but what we have so far is looking pretty good.

The level is basically going to be like a beachside festival area where the people in the town celebrate jellyfish. Everything here is jellyfish themed from the costumes to the popcorn bowls.

Costume Color Variations

There's a lot of stuff here so the video is really long. I'll put some time stamps at the bottom if you only want to see specific parts. I think Patreon has an option to change the playback speed on videos, so you can also try speeding it up if you want.

The blueprints for the levels are all finished!

TL;DR: I tend to get carried away and write a lot lol. Basically the blueprints for all 10 levels are finished. We have work mostly done for the first level, started working on level 4, and the rest are untouched as of right now. The levels will probably end up looking different than the initial blueprints.

How I finally got the NPC to look at me
