Patron email address

Morning folks,

I had a few messages informing me that the Patron email address wasn't working. Turns out, even though I'd set it up on my server, I hadn't registered it as a an official address via. my spam filter.

But anyway, patrons@nostalgianerd.com should now be fully operational, if you need to contact me for anything.

Please feel free to message me if there's any problems, or issues with rewards, etc.

Anything really

Thanks!

Peter

Accidental Win

I seem to have "accidentally" won what appears to be a brand new Mega Drive at auction.

Anyone fancy seeing an unboxing?

Mystery Amiga Console

(Apologies, I re-uploaded as there was a potential privacy issue with the first video)

So, here it is. The outcome of the mystery Amiga console hunt.

A hunt which started in our Discord chat room and ended with no one guessing what the "console" would be (although some mentioned it whist musing).

Overall, I'm pretty darn happy with the bundle.

What do you think?

Bitmap Books

I was recently sent a load of Bitmap books.

Now - as I'm sure you're aware - recently for me, is about a year ago. If not more.

SO. Finally. Here they are, presented in a video, both for your viewing pleasure and to ease my conscience that I received them for free.

Hopefully Bitmap Books will get some sales, and I can continue to gawk at the artwork contained within.

Now I can get back to videoing some hardware. Stay tuned.

Things from the National Museum of Scotland

So, I'm back from my break to Scotland, which was incredibly refreshing, but also quite interesting, thanks to the Museum in Edinburgh.

Here's a few photos I took there, which may well feature in upcoming videos.

Top left is an Apricot F1 Computer, which I plan to cover, along with the other -fruits- of Apricot in a comprehensive video.

Top right is a speak and spell, which isn't that significant, if it wasn't for being near the Parametric Artificial Talker (bottom left) - o...

Discord

I've had some messages of Discord links not working (again...), so if you're having troubles, please use this link to get on board.

I'll need to set your levels manually once you're in, so if they're not done in a couple of days send me a private message with your patreon level and I'll make sure to do it.

New Patreon Video

Ay'up folks,

I'm sharing this here and it gives you a brief overview of the revised tiers and any new  rewards you can expect.

If you're on a tier which has changed, I may need to get some more information from you (entirely your choice). For example, if you're on the $5 tier, you may need to add your address into Patreon so I can send out your packs.

In any case, I'll pop updates onto each tier with more details!

Thank you for continuing to support me, and have a...

Patreon Updates

Hello friends,

I've made a few changes to the Patreon rewards here. One, to make them more manageable for me, but two, to *hopefully* give them more value for you.

I'll be posting updates on the individual tiers in due course, but please feel to drop into Discord and give your feedback, or pop them in the comments below. You can also email me at peter@nostalgianerd.com

I'm visiting my uncle Scotland next week, so I'll use that week to grab some rest and let the dust settle.<...

Aura Interactor Cushion

Here's a video about a cushion that vibrates. But not in that way. Well, actually, yes, in that way.

But it's actually pretty good for gaming too.

Oh, and it came out in the 90s, so that's a win. The time when EVERYTHING was about enhancing your gaming experience. Including things which weren't even related to gaming. Such as your Uncle.

Deserted Gaming Convention

I went to Play Expo Manchester at the weekend, and indeed, saw a few of you fine people there. It was a great event, great to meet a load of people and great to see so many consoles and rare computers in one building.

I usually make a "vlog" type thing, but I thought on this occasion, I'd offer a glimpse into the occasional after parties at these events, when there's pretty much no one there to get in the way of your unfettered fun.

A room full of arcade machines, pinball tables, ...

I don't usually manage to get a video out whilst it's relevant, yet here we are, coming up to the World Snooker Championship final, and here's a video about the very same subject.

Marvellous.

What went wrong with the C64 SF2

Alright, it's time for another dose of Street Fighter 2. This time I'm looking at the tragedy of the Commodore 64 version.

I had to play this game for several hours, so BE GRATEFUL.

Also, it's quite interesting.

April Unboxing

Ay up.

Second video for the day. This one is catching up on the post from the last few months.

Some EXCELLENT items here. Many of which deserve their own follow up videos.

That's all for now. Na night!

How the Internet crossed the sea

Afternoon folks, I hope you are well.

For your weekend viewing, I present the story of how the internet got across the sea. More specifically the Atlantic ocean.

We begin way back in the 1800s and go from there.

Game Versions of 80s TV Gameshows

I recently got hold of some ZX Spectrum versions of classic 80s TV Gameshows. I'd played most of them in the past, but wanted to refresh my memory.

In hindsight, I think I preferred it being un-refreshed.

Little Computer People (attempt 2)

Hello again folks. Here I present the second, and hopefully final version of Little Computer People. This time with LGR's added vocals, and a few changes here and there.

Enjoy.

Little Computer People

AT LAST. It is time for a new video.

Well, almost. This is the first edit of the new video, and will change for final release; mainly because I'm waiting for Clint (LGR) to send me a voice clip that will replace the off-the-cuff "King of the hill/Drunk corpse" accent I've used about 5 minutes in.

Rather than waiting, I thought I'd upload this version for you guys to check out.

The video itself is about Little Computer People. A 1985 "human aquarium" experiment, which p...

Turn Your Wii into a DOS Machine

Hello everyone. Apologies for the disappearance. I didn't intend to be away for so long.

But FINALLY, a new video is here. This one was a struggle to make - I'm not sure entirely why - but I'm reasonably pleased with the end result.

If you want to turn your Wii into a DOS machine, then you might be as well. Otherwise, well, you'll probably think it's crap.

Anyway normal service resuming... thanks for bearing with me.

Recycling My Computer

Time for another bit of fun. You've no doubt seen the GIF of the chap who puts "My Computer" into this Recycle Bin, only for his PC to disappear from existence.

So, I thought I'd try it out for real, and then chuck a load of back story in about the Recycle Bin for good measure.

It's time for some TRAIN action

Trains. I love trains. Vast, hulking engines that could smash a car to pieces.

Also, Japan loves trains, so it's fitting they have a set of games based around driving a train. They're called Densa de GO! and I've got some versions for the Playstation, along with a hench train controller.

Let's see what they can do.

Festive trolling

A tale of Christmas trolls.

1986, you wouldn't necessarily expect it, but Father Christmas was online, working through letters.

Obviously, he wasn't immune to a few odd emails, as you'd expect.

There'll be another message over Christmas, possibly Christmas day, but in the mean time....

Happy Christmas!
