Retro Tech Orders

I've sent Patreon messages to everyone who has requested a signed copy of Retro Tech.

I'll send them out as and when payments come in.

Thank you!

Signed Copies of Retro Tech

Hello!

I currently have a limited number of Retro Tech books.

As my awesome Patrons, I'm looking at sending out signed copies to you, on a first come, first served basis.

As I found out earlier this week, their weight and size makes them cost more in shipping than I'd like, but I think I can send them out for (roughly);

UK: £16 (including postage)

World: £21 (including postage)

Which, given the cost I have to buy them for, is about as cheap as I can manage.

Domesday Project

I've been meaning to do this video for a number of years, mainly because I found the whole BBC Domesday Project so utterly fascinating in the 80s.

But the thing which really stunned me, was the ability to walk abound various UK towns in the 1980s using this equipment, just like you can with Google Street View.

Join me in exploring this incredible 1980s technology.

Thank you!

Hey everyone.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for the continued support you give me.

I wouldn't be anywhere near the position I'm in today if it wasn't for all of your direct support through Patreon. It's literally enabled me to grow the channel to something significant, work on what I love and make sure I can still afford to live, every single day.

You guys are the corner stone of what I do, and it means a huge deal to me that you continue to enjo...

Well.

It had to be done.

I had to review Sabrina the Teenage Witch Brat Attack.

Because.

Just because.

How the Xbox Scared Us

Happy Halloween. Although shouldn't that be Horrendous Halloween?

In any case. ENJOY!

This is old  news, but there doesn't seem to be a decent video about it, and so it felt perfect for the season.

Gobble or be Gobbled

Back to some nice vintage game technology. This little beauty is from 1983, and comes with the incredible tagline of "Gobble or be Gobbled".

I actually picked this up from Play Expo London for £30, which seemed reasonable.

Time to inspect.

Pacman Quarter Arcade

Numskull sent one of their new quarter sized arcade cabinets for me to peruse, because, marketing.

So I thought I'd have a look, and give my honest feedback. I mean, it is pretty cool after all.

Premiere Test

I thought I'd test out Youtube's "PREMIERE" feature. See how it works. I think the idea is we get to all watch it together with live chat..... I guess that will be nice and cosy?

It also means, that on this occasion, I haven't given you fine people early access. I mean, I would do, but Youtube doesn't let you share the live video link before the premiere. However, I will fully make up for that with a Patron Exclusive Falcon video in the very near future.

I don't plan on making this Premi...

Atari Falcon Voiceovers

Remember I asked if anyone wanted to contribute voice-overs to the Atari Falcon video? Well, the response was enthusiastic. But it's now time to begin putting things into place.

SO. I suggest to make it fair for all, that if you would still like to contribute, then pick one (or as many as you'd like) of the lines below, then email me at peter@nostalgianerd.com with #Falcon in the subject line, attaching (or linking to) your sound snippet. I'll need them by the end of the week if possible.

I've heard some people are having troubles getting on Discord again.

If so, here's a link that should never expire.

TV Boy

I remember seeing this console in 90s catalogues, all the damn time.

Every time I saw it, I wondered, just what is that? Why is it there? Why does it have so many games, and why is it so cheap?

Well, I thought I'd explore and find out those answers myself.

Zzap64 Annual 2019

Evening all.

Today, I had a peek at the new Zzap64 Annual.

If you don't want to see any glimpses of the cover, don't watch past 5 minutes 30 seconds.

I'll get a video out this week if it KILLS ME.

This one is about a version of Doom rendered using ASCII.

Excellent.

New Mega Drive Games

New games for old... New games for old.

I thought I'd explore some new Mega Drive games and how they fit into our gaming landscape. Do they invoke the same nostalgic feelings as games we remember, or are they just unnecessary additions to our game world?

Exploration is afoot.

Quickshot SVI-2000 Robot Arm

Hello there friends.

A new video awaits. This time featuring the wonderful world of robotics. The SpectraVideo Quickshot SVI-2000 Robot Arm to be precise.

It also features Octav1us, as we try and prepare a cup of the finest brew over the weekend.

The upshot is, my office is now a terrible mess, and I have no tea.

Digital Tape Decks

Very short early access, as I'm running behind again.

But here's a video about Digital Tape Decks, otherwise known as Tapuinos, TZXDuinos and the like.

I hope you enjoy. Have a good weekend! :D

Commodore 64 + WiFi

Evening all.

Time for a video about WiFi. Specifically Commodore 64 WiFi.

What started out as an exploration of a C64 WiFi device turned into more of a Bulletin Board festival. But these things can't be helped.

I hope you enjoy, regardless.

New Studio Tour

It's down to you fine people, that I'm even able to afford somewhere to conduct all my Nostalgia Nerd activities. Otherwise, I'd still be crammed into my bedroom, trying to carefully stack computers on top of computers, in order to film something that looked slightly reasonable.

So, as promised, here is your exclusive, first look tour of the new Nostalgia Nerd studio space.

I realise I didn't actually make a video on my previous office, but that place didn't really ever feel like a home ...

Two Point Hospital Review

The true spiritual successor to Theme Hospital is here, and I've spent the last few days playing it.

The questions are;

1. How good is it?

2. How does it compare to Theme Hospital?

Sonic Chaos Re-imagined

Another video?! You crazy bastard I hear you cry.

Well, I'm getting back to a 2 per week schedule (Tuesdays and Fridays going forward), so these make up the 2 videos for this week.

Next week's videos will be on early access as soon as they're made.

ANYWAY. This is a video about a fan made Sonic Chaos, or a new version at least. I've always loved Sonic Chaos, so I thought I'd best make a video about this new fan demo.

Voice overs?

Quick query.

Does anyone wish to record a voice over for the upcoming "Atari Falcon Story"?

There are a few quotes which I need recording, and rather than roping the usual suspects into it, I thought I'd see if anyone here fancied it.

As long as you have the ability to record an audio clip to a fairly decent & clear standard. Then it's all good.

Let me know below if you're interested.

Moving from Xbox to Playstation

This video is just this minute freshly rendered.

Therefore, there is a chance it may be altered before going "live", but I wanted to get something out tonight for you fine fellows.

Essentially, I've obtained a PS4, having owned Xbox consoles since they came out, and I wanted to talk about switching between them, whilst using click bait style titles to full effect on Youtube.

Because... why the hell not?

DOS Executables

I've been busy with "Digitiser the Show" the past week, so I'm hugely behind on the video front.

Because... why not?
