One of the two people Rex is loosely based on was a complete looks-obsessed narcissist who was OBSESSED with Alf. He never missed a gym work out, or a chance to buy Alf merch off eBay. That seemed strange to me.

Wow. Magazines. I remember being in meetings at King Features they'd talk about bringing young readers back to the comics page and I'd sit there thinking how I was 30 and hadn't purchased a newspaper in years. :(

I am embarrassed by the first strip. I had seen a 'Colbert Report' where he showed fan art of himself fighting a bears and, even though the strip was doing ok the time, thought we might be able to get some publicity having him BE a bear. Aw, well.

I didn't occur to me until I saw the strip in print that it sounds like 2 of Bridget's cousins are marrying each other. Also, I worked with a guy who said he had a "classic European build". I was fascinated and repulsed by that.

I never really pictured Steve the call-out guy. Mel made him a rabbit, which I like because they're usually portrayed as being fast-paced. That said, direct all questions about the butterfly to Mel. :D (Sorry, Mel! :D )
