The Ladies of TWB

And done! Wasn't sure what to do with the background so I threw this together. It was either that or draw all the guys like they were pressed up against a plate-glass window, drooling. :)

I'll be putting this up on the Cast Page before too long, but I'm thinking of annotating it first, with each characters's name and possibly species.

The new fees, explained:

Patreon has a couple of posts about the new fee structure, here and here.

It's worth a read, but to distill it down a but, basically Patreon is trying to revise their payment schedule to be more convenient (and more predictable) for the donor, as well as make it more consistent and predictable for th...

So what's with this new fee thing?

I have no idea. Patreon, oddly enough, made no mention about it to me or several other users I've spoken with. Even now I'm not exactly sure what it is they're trying to do, other than that it looks like they're trying to get a small percentage up front from the donor, as well as taking their slice at the end of the month as they've always done.

I'm given to understand it was done to offset the fixed costs of using credit cards and the like- virtually all of which have a fixed cost-per-transac...

Quick teaser #4

Finally added in Miki, and made a lot of other small changes as well. Cara looks a bit less frumpy, the four main ladies got a bit more hip and thigh, I tweaked Sandy and Pirta's suits a little, added possibly a bit too much heft to Tawny's chest, and shrank Kasi's hands quite a bit.

Still need to rework Pirta's expression, and of course then color everything. :)

The Argument Sketch

Just finished up this little bit of art, and figured I'd post it. It's for a small project I've been working on recently, which you all will see shortly. :)

Quick Teaser #3

Cleaned up, inked, scanned and digitally remastered. Moved everybody a tad closer together, fixed little bits with the various poses (like Tawny's head) and started adding their various spots.

Not happy with Pirta's expression, or any of the five bigger girl's hips. Cara looks too frumpy, might have to see if I can make her look a little better without having to do a major redraw.

And, of course, I still have to draw and add Miki. :)

Quick Teaser #2

Another teaser for a bit of upcoming art, this time a sort of "model sheet" of all the TWB ladies, in swimsuits. :)

This one will likely get posted on the Cast Page when done, in case any of you artists out there want to have a better idea how their various color and spot patterns look.

Once that's done, I'll do one up for the guys too- at least the main-cast guys, anyway.

Quick Teaser #1

A small sample of some upcoming artwork, an older piece I was tinkering around with this weekend along with some... other projects. :) (If you know what I'm talking about, keep it under your hat 'til I can make a proper full announcement. :) )

Good Coffie WIP #1

Sorry I haven't been able to work on this- or much else- recently, but as always, sometimes shopwork takes precedence. I have, at least, cleaned up the linework, at least most of it.

I took the "edited" copy, and enlarged it, did a little alteration (raised her head up a bit, as the neck was too short in the original, plus lengthened her torso, legs and tail a tad) then pushed it back to pure B&W. (No greyscale.)

Then I simply cleaned up the lines, smoothing where necessary, adding d...

Full designation: Turanga-Class Mark VI Semi-Autonomous Combat Drone
The Mark-Sixes are one of several experimental weapons systems that Doc and Roger are helping design and test for various branches of the US Government. They have no proper AI, but do carry some fairly sophisticated programming, and can network with each other for target tracking and other relatively simple problem-solving.

Good Coffie #1

Earlier I asked for some suggestions as to which bit of older art or comic strip I should redraw, and one such suggestion was this sketch.

Longtime readers might recall the 2009 April Fool's Gag, which made the site look like an open root directory, which included links to "doc_nopants.jpg" (a photo of an actual polar bear with a black T-shirt crudely airbrushed on) "sandy-topless.jpg" (which was made to look like the J...

Big Gun Work-in-progress #3

Got the gun redrawn and most of the color is done... and then I saved the original as a reduced JPG instead of the full-size TIF. (Slaps forehead.)

Not too big an issue, I still have Sandy as a full-size in color, and the B&W linework for the gun as separate files, so I only really "lost" the color on the gun.

Should be able to finish it up this weekend, and maybe figure out something for a background.

Next redraw work-in-progress:

A reader had an excellent suggestion for the next piece to be redrawn: What I'm pretty sure was the first "pin up" drawing I ever did, back in 2005, as part of one of the very earliest April Fool's gags.

I thought it was decent back in the day, but naturally, today, I think it's terrible. :) And as such, certainly well worth an attempt at a redraw- although this time, unlike the 'bikini' pic below, I'll n...

Boston Creme Pie

Almost nine years ago, we had this strip, in which one of several things the reader was told they'd "never see in TWB" was Sandy and Pirta bikini-wrestling in a giant Boston Creme Pie. :)

As noted earlier, I haven't had much chance to do "art for art's sake"- that is, draw something just for fun, rather than for the comic. A few weeks ago, I found the high-res copy of the original strip, and took that fram...

Reposting...

I received a complaint about Saturday's 'bonus' strip- shown above- and yeah, it might be just a touch to risque`  to leave in the archives.

It'll be taken out of the system in the morning when the comic updates- strip 2452 will lead directly to 2453. But, it's still kind of artsy strip that I like how it came out (though I wanted it darker than it is) so I'm reposting it here.

Work In Progress #1

While the last few weeks have been very busy for me, I do still take the (all too occasional) break so I don't go... well, any more lunatic than I already am. :)

I haven't had much time to art-for-art's-sake in a while, so the other day I dragged out the (relatively) high-rez copy of the famous "bikini-wrestling" scene from... oh, about a decade ago :) and I've been slowly cleaning it up ever since.

Eventually it'll get fully colored and I'll post it in high resolution. And if anyone has...

Kinda-sorta Fan Art, but not really

Last week a friend of mine splurged and picked up a brand-new 27" Wacom Cintiq graphics tablet, and let me play around with it for a while. It came with a trial copy of Painter, and we were just getting into trying some sketches and brushes and whatnot.

While we were fooling around, I sketched up the above drawing- just the fox, none of the background. Trying for a bit of an action pose, and on a whim I added a handgun, so it looked like a scene from a spy thriller or something.

Anyway, ...

Quick update on the Wiki/index/codex thingamabob...

Several people have contacted me concerning various options for a possible TWB search format, from thumbnailed strips to client-side apps. A couple seem pretty interesting, and deserve more scrutiny, but at the moment, I have a couple of very hot projects burning their way through the shop (thankfully not literally :) ) and I have pretty much zero clock cycles left right now to ponder any of those options.

Stand by for a couple more days, and I'll bring the subject back up and we can go ...

The TWB Codex

I just whipped up a small sample of an idea I've been thinking of for a while, which is a way to do a sort of poor-man's searchable strip index.

The TWB Codex.

It's just the first 100 strips so far, and I limited the keywords to the major characters and setpieces- Doc, Roger, shop, counter, powerarmor, explosion, etc. but I think it'll help.

Of course, to use it, you simply ctrl-F for a keyword, ...

A slight alteration...

Several loyal readers pointed out that, as nice as Cara looked in the previous image, she'd been shown canonically in the strip as a bit chunkier- and besides, being a polar bear, being supermodel-thin probably isn't a good idea. :)

I kind of hadn't even realized I'd done it that way- I suppose some part of my brain just read off the decision tree that since it was a cheesecake shot, this is the body style you use (IE, the slimmer, more toned style like Sandy and Pirta get.)

So,...
