Amber and Mike from Shortpacked!

From the archives!  (should i have an archives tag)  This is, what, my 9th saved smut drawing?  It's pretty early.  Early enough to be Shortpacked!, early enough that Amber's pubic hair isn't drawn to resemble the hair on her head as I'd later decide to do with everybody because it's hilarious to me, and mostly early enough that it just looks terrible!  Just dogshit.

Dina behind-the-scenes

I thought maybe it'd be an interesting update to show the various shading layers, unlayered?  I dunno, we'll see.

From left-to-right, top to bottom:

1) The combined everything!  (minus the glowy lens-flare layer I guess I left out entirely because it'd make an odd number of images and thus not very tidy-looking)

2) This is the "basic shadows" image I updated with yesterday, but after the edges are smoothed out.  Might be some additional airbrushing.

Sometimes I attempt to be more precise in my anatomy by breaking up pencils into separate layers (and colors) so I can better visualize where things go without losing everything piled together in a monochrome mess.  

So if you're like, hrm, that torso makes Dina too tall, you can just adjust the torso without fucking up everything else too much.

Malaya and Marcie

From late 2014!  I didn't think that was right -- it felt too early, but I checked my Malaya character models and this was dated about the same time that Malaya model was drawn.  (character models get the date in the filename)  Apparently I've been shipping these two for forever.

I haven't actually colored a piece like those other ones in a long while, airbrush-style, so I kind of had to get back into its groove.  

Am I there where I was?  I dunno.  But I'm more satisfied with the end result than I was with the previous finished attempt.  CALLING THIS A SUCCESS

I moved the 2!  It should be modifying the "Dorothy" and not the "inks," I've decided.  I'm sorry if this abrupt title shuffling throws anybody off.

Anyway, I did a pass at inking the new pencils.

I'M GONNA FIX THE DOROTHY ART, by god, I've become determined.  So I've gone back to pencils.  

I've elongated her torso a bit, since I think the proportions problem was partly due to making her a little too squat.  Also that belly button was way too high.

Here's a finished version of the pencils from yesterday.  I dunno, I don't like them!  Dorothy is fairly skinny, but I tend to... add round parts?  I like round parts!  I like adding contours.  And Dorothy shouldn't really have them, but I kept on trying to make them.  Anyway, I finished this and sat back and thought, this is not right.  

But here, you can have it!

This is from the same series of smiling naked people that all the other obvious members of this series come from.  But I kept on not being satisfied with Dorothy's, so I saved the pencils so I had a good starting point from before it kept going off-the-rails so I could try better the next time?  

The pencils seem fine!  I'll show you a finished one tomorrow, and I'll talk about why I don't like it.

I really should have saved some earlier, intermediate versions to better illustrate the process, but lemme talk about how I animate these things, for those curious.  If you're not, I've put the image down in the text, which will make things presumably more ignorable.  I don't THINK it'll be body horror, but...

I animate in Photoshop.  I'm sure some folks will be mad at me for saying this.  Even my wife is gently trying to migrate me to different platforms!  But ...

Yesterday I said there was a secret reason why sometimes I wouldn't go all-out with an airbrushed rendering like the original version got, and that secret reason is: i'm just gonna delete everything but the line art and flats anyway so I can animate a loop of it for you all.

Honestly this wasn't just an attempt to get around the original finished art being on Slipshine!  I was gonna compare the original finished art versus this re-inking/coloring here.  But, y'know, whatevs.  

I did some better foreshortening of Ruth's face here.  Billie's face looks more 3D.  Also, her shoulder muscles work better.

Ruth and Billie against a wall

This is Saved Ruth/Billie Smut Art #2.  Eagle-eyed Pornographique connoissieurs (you know who you are) may note a similarity to a panel from the first Ruth/Billie Slipshine comic, "Finally," on page 6.  I repurposed some of these early private drawings when putting that story together.  The one in the Slipshine is completely redrawn and way better than this, but this has its own charm.

Here is the UNSEEN SEQUEL to the other art which I posted yesterday!  It's also from 2005, and drawing it scandalized me heavily.  Imagine a Joyce Shocked Face, but at herself.  how dare i draw naked people enjoying each other's bodies
