I'm a big summer girl, and I love summer movies...or used to. Big Hollywood movies was an American staple. But not so much these days. And yet, I still have hope each year. What films are you guys looking forward to in June?

Hey all. Just letting you know in advance that I will be on vacation all of next week (May 14th through 21st). Will be taking a trip to Italy for my birthday. I will try and report if I have time, but if not, will resume Patreon stuff when I return. Hope you guys are doing well.

I have a friend who each year, takes it upon himself to watch the oscar nominated shorts, both animated and non, before the Academy Awards. He's not interested in the Academy Awards per se, however he likes to support short films. I watched a few of them that he recommended. Le Pupille was my favorite that I saw. It's everything you could want in a short film, in my opinion. Wonderful style to it.
But the one that intrigued me the most was the winner for the animated category, "Th...

I just saw it. While I admire aspects of the concept, there just wasn't enough there for me to recommend or even really like. From what I gather it has divided a lot of people. If you've seen it, tell me what you think.

I have opinions on John Mulaney's new netflix special.
First of all, he is a great storyteller, and that is his main strength as a comedy writer. Here he tells stories that are interesting, sometimes funny, and more morbid than we are used to from him. But unfortunately I see this as a detriment to his whole comedy style. For me this is the only Mulaney special that I could really relate to on a personal level, and yet I found it to be his weakest Netflix special so far. This special ha...

I've been chipping away at this one for an eventual review. Watched it with some friends the other night. Both of them loved it. I really love Fellini's universe personally, and this one in particular is quite full of whimsy, and in other ways it almost feels a little overstated at times for me. Such sharp wit and beauty, yet it doesn't say as much to me as I wish it did. I almost wish it strayed deeper into the abstract as it went, rather than abiding to the fidelity formula we often retread...

Alright ladies and gents. I've got it narrowed down to a few films for the next party. Time and date still to be determined. But will likely fall on a Sunday or Monday night, whenever we do it. Feel free to add your thoughts!

So...for those who were there on my last one, I have finally resolved the sound problem. Which is such a relief. This will make things so much easier for the next one. You guys had mentioned possibly watching The Red Shoes, or Singin in the Rain for the next one. But I wanted to get a sense of what some of you guys are feeling. Throw out some ideas if you'd like. Will try and schedule a new one soon.

So I don't know if you guys recall this post I made last year about the murder of my ex boss or not. I mention above that he was a terrible person, but what I had been telling people ever since, is that I didn't buy that he was innocent for a second, due to my time working for him. Truly disturbing, the behavior that I witnessed at the time. Well, today the real story finally came out. It was what I suspected all along. The whole thing escalated over a fender bender late at night. But it turn...

Guys thank you so much for making the first movie watch party a success. Apologies for the small technical difficulties. Will work those out for next time. Hope to continue these a bit more regularly. Again...for those who joined, you were all great, so polite, and engaging. Made things super easy for me. So I really appreciate you. Hope you enjoyed the film and the discussion. :)

Hey guys. A lot of you are asking about getting a link on Sunday. What you can do is connect your patreon to your discord. The link for those steps are above, and very straightforward. Once you do that, you are all set. You can simply log in, and you will automatically be added to my server. Let me know if you have questions.

Hello all. Just checking in on you guys on the discord thing to see if you have any questions. Will just be reiterating the movie night stuff for Sunday a couple times this weekend for everyone. Apologies if I get redundant. Like I said before, it's my first time doing something like this, and I want to be sure all tiers are aware of everything. Hopefully it gets smoother with practice.
The watch party is 8:30 pm, April 2nd (Sunday), central time for me here in Texas (will need to...

Hey all. Okay, so I have been working out the details on Discord for the watch party. This will be the easiest way to conduct the stream so that there are no additional fees or anything like that from your end. I have provided a link above for easy access. It's free to join and very easy to set up. You simply need to have your username created so you have an accessible profile to join streams. But in order to join the watch party, I will send a Discord link to everyone on Sunday evening. To b...

Ya'll...I saw my first Scream movie, ever. Yes, yes....I know. But I was roped into seeing the latest Scream entry with a friend in theaters, who coincidentally, had never seen a Scream film before either. So irony-laden that it destroys any tension, as is the meta formula these days. But didn't hate it as much as I thought. I suppose you guys will have to fill me in on all that I have missed. (Of course I have seen the iconic opening scene from the original, but up until today, that was the ...

So...I have had this weird things about Shutter Island, where the film really bothers me, and I've always wanted to go back and review it. It's a subject matter that really interests me just as a film topic: McCarthy era psychological thriller, trapped in a psych ward, never sure what's real or who to trust...all shit up my alley for cinematic exploration. But I feel it is one of Scorsese's weakest entries, and it really bums me out. And for someone I admire, it's interesting to pick apart wh...

I feel that the concept of the buffalo chicken sandwich does not work. The buffalo sauce and flavor encompassing the entire chicken breast, rather than just the wing, is already overwhelming, and then it overpowers any and all other condiments. There's gotta be something to cool down the brightness of them flavors, in a bite-size way, and nothing seems to work for me. Now you want to go from fried chicken, to a classic spicy chicken sandwich, then I'm first in line. But buffalo wings to buffa...

So it seems that through both polls, the consensus is An American in Paris, which is one of my personal favorite movies, but one I rarely ever get to talk about. Much like my recent reaction to Chazelle's Babylon, AAIP is a film that gives me chills, makes me cringe, lifts my heart, deeply frustrates me...it's a mix of complicated emotions. And yet...I'll never stop watching it. Ultimately, I see it as quite a melancholy film about lost artists who have no idea what they want to do with their...

I always found this story interesting. I respect Smith because of how unpretentious he is, and he genuinely just likes to make what he wants and doesn't care about the critics. Whether you like his movies or not, he seems like a nice guy to get a beer with. Always sensed his anecdotes were more genuine and less played-up/rehearsed than perhaps other celebrity film directors. As an example, if anyone ever tries to get Tarantino to discuss Weinstein...he all but takes a big gulp of water, and w...
