50K Subs

Hey guys. I just wanted to thank you guys so much for your support, as I've hit 50K subscribers today. I thought I would give you guys a couple of options as my patrons to commemorate the occasion, and you can let me know what you think. I thought we could either schedule a watch party in march, or could do a livestream for the Patrons only (haven't worked out the tier thing yet). But let me know what you think.

INFINITY POOL

Finally saw it. It was a very uneven mix of things for me. Brandon is a little overwhelmed by his influences to the point where he can't really settle into anything proper. But I enjoyed aspects of the film. Mia Goth is just....I'm obsessed with her. She's so terrifying. She's the Harley Quinn we need, but don't deserve. XD Will try and get my review out soon. Hope you guys are doing well.

These Top 5 Decade Lists I Make

I gotta tell you...I was more excited to do my top 5 for the 1980s last year for Youtube, mainly because I think that is a really underrated decade for movies. Everyone says the 80s sucked for movies and...I beg to differ. So many great films came out of that decade that people rarely acknowledge. 1970s is kinda the expected route to go list-wise. People always talk about how it was the greatest decade for film. Whereas I find the 1960s far more interesting by comparison, and certainly less a...

I am finally planning a review of Paris, Texas. I think it's a remarkable piece of work, and something everyone should see. What are your opinions on the film?

Hot Take on Hot Ones

Every celebrity that goes on that show marvels at Sean Evans and his "brilliant" and original questions on the Youtube show, Hot Ones. I will never understand why people think he is a good interviewer. Evans seems like the type of guy who goes to expensive clubs just so he can name drop. At least...these are the vibes I get. You can tell on the show that he's often incredibly nervous around these celebrities, but desperately wants them to like him. The eyebrow raise at the opening of the show...

lol....Goddamn, why didn't I think of this?

XD I love doing this kind of stuff with my buddies. We've learned a lot about many restaurant chains as a result. The nostalgia tho. When I was a kid I went to amc so often that I used to just order the food there. It was less expensive then. >< But this is an og idea. Props.

1970s Movies

So I've decided to go ahead and make another video like I did for the 1980s, where I talk about my favorite films of the 1970s. I wanted to get an idea of what some of yours are, as it's quite a struggle to narrow it down. Please feel free to share.

BABYLON - The ending

I've now seen Babylon twice. I have so so so many complaints about it, and yet I absolutely adore the film at the same time, and I can't wait to see it again. One thing that I really struggled with was the ending. For those who have seen it...what did you think? Did you love it or hate it?

THE MENU

Who has seen it? I saw it a couple weeks ago and quite enjoyed it for what it was. Quite a prickly little satire/thriller with a lot of fun ideas. I wish the direction had been a lot stronger, and I had my issues here and there, but found myself thinking about a lot of aspects of the characters after the fact. Lots of movies in 2022 about trapping the rich on a cruise or island lol. What were your thoughts if you've seen it? Let's discuss.

One thing I have learned in life is that if you are a fan of a content creator, a celebrity, a famous person of any sort who has some sort of public presence/persona.....don't follow them on twitter.

EYES WIDE SHUT

I'm going to do a redux review on this one, mainly because I really hate my original review for it. This is a movie that's quite shifty in my mind, and certainly in the minds of the public, and one that I think deserves another video. What did you think initially when you saw it, and how has your view changed overtime, if at all?

Happy New Year!

Hey guys, I hope you guys were able to have a great holiday. For 2023 I have some ideas for Patreon, as well as some ideas for the channel that I've been contemplating, and hope to get some feedback from you on. So stay tuned for that in the upcoming weeks. And if you guys have any of your own suggestions you'd like to throw out, feel free to comment or DM me. Coming up on 50K fairly soon. Should likely start thinking about that more as well.

BABYLON

We have found the film to get Maggie out from the shadows and in front of the camera again for an impromptu Christmas review. Whether or not that's for good reason or for a bad reason....I will allow you all to guess. :)

THE WHALE

Saw it today. As many know, I struggle with Aronofsky and always have (much to the chagrin of the viewers), so as usual I was intrigued with this one, but also skeptical. But it was better than I thought it would be, for one reason, and one reason only: the acting.

The material is hammy at best, not nearly as honest with itself as it thinks it is, and I think it's misguided as a character study, often placing emphasis on a tired redemptive arc that feels unnecessary and redundant ...

January Movies

January is one of the most silent months for movies understandably, but is there anything you guys are looking forward to? I'm skeptical about The Last of Us on HBO because I'm a fan of the video game. But...I am intrigued. That's really all I got. I've been kinda tuned out more than usual to the external stuff as you guys know...which basically means I have no clue what's up.

RAGING BULL - Some Current Thoughts

Watched it again last night. For some reason movies like this really feel better for me when I'm feeling down and very raw emotion-wise. There's something about the honesty here that feels resonant and important to experience. The poetry of that film. It's pure ballet. It's pure cinematic mastery. It's never pretentious, as these kinds of movies so often tend to be. Every beat, every cut, every moment is perfectly timed. And there's something about it, that weirdly does feel tender despite th...

Heart to Heart

Hey guys. It's been a minute, as you may have noticed. I've been dreading talking to you about this, mainly because it's hard to know what to say or how to go about things. But I'll just be real with you: things are not going well in my life at all. I'm in a very sad and emotionally distressing time, and it's pretty much derailed everything that is me. Sometimes life just obliterates your heart, and it's really hard to pick up the pieces. I won't sit here and pretend that things are getting b...

BRIDGE OF SPIES

I watched the film the other day. I had heard it was an underrated film from Spielberg. I have to say I agree. It's more straight-forward, more subtle, and more sophisticated from a filmmaking standpoint than what I have seen from him in a long time. But it had a bite to it, a snark, and though it's a film that feels retro in its design, it had some satirical elements that gave it some freshness imo. It's still Spielberg so...of course it's heavy handed at times...especially the ending. For m...

Memories

Been looking through a ton of old photos recently. My grandmother passed away at the beginning of November, and since then I've been feeling quite nostalgic. My grandmother was in Marfa,Texas during the shooting of the film Giant back in the late 50s. She was quite proud of the fact that she got to see Elizabeth Taylor, who she described as having the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. She was also a huge Rock Hudson fan, so...it's a memory she loved to share. It remained her favorite mov...
