Twilight but as told from the vampire's point of view, continues to be a collection of words strung together in mostly coherent fashion, with occasional digressions to count thousands of insects. There you go, Little Brown, you can use that as a quote on the cover of the paperback.
We hit the halfway mark during this episode and Mike and Conor found much to discuss. The role of Gordon Bombay in the Twilight-verse, the logic of taking the world's biggest klutz hiking, and Mike Newton's q...

Bob Fingerman and Mike Nelson have a friendly chat with the author of historical fiction exclusively centered around Mayor Albert's Rebellion of 1311!
She surprises us however with the, ahem, salty nature of the surrounding fiction. She's a lovely old gal but sometimes the explic...

If you like Cline-ian pop culture lists you are in for a treat! In this episode Mike and Conor break down Bella's likes / dislikes, turn-ons / turn-offs, preferences for types of flowers / er, preferring not to encounter other types of flowers, etc.
Conor again dives to the dark web to widen our understanding of Edward's movie tastes, while Mike takes out a very dangerous short term loan from Russian mobsters to hire the 372 Players.
Also, many MANY Sonic Chal...

I CANNOT remember whether I talked about Domenico Scarlatti on any of my Classical Minis, but I recorded one about him and am prepared to post it anyway even if it embarrasses me by covering the same ground.
So the upshot is, please let me know whether to post it with or without embarrassment.
Yours in seven months of mind-bending turmoil and forgetfulness,

Hello Jackals, Conor here. I may have mentioned this during the My Immortal podcasts, but Lauren hates Ebony's favorite band, My Chemical Romance. I convinced her to talk me through her objections to the time I added their epic ballad "Welcome to the Black Parade" to a playlist she created, which resulted in me being ...

Join Mike and cartoonist Bob Fingerman as they discuss the titanic undertaking that Austin, TX author Cade Rellington has spent the past 13 years working on. Learn about his unique diet, feuds with local filmmakers, and prize-winning pooches. Plus, Mike appears to have negotiated some sort of side-deal with an internet mattress shop?

Yes, we talk about things other than Lanny. But we don't want to!
You'll all be thrilled to learn that Mike drained the budget to reunite the 372 Players, that Mike scores, um, pretty, pretty well on the Real or Fanfic challenge. There's tons of Dumb Sentences and Conor dives to the dark web.
But let's not bury the lead here (no, not lede, let's not go there) there's a mid-episode mishap that is nothing short of spectacular [we included...

Once again, cartoonist Bob Fingerman has unearthed an author who is quite eccentric and writes about an extremely offbeat subject matter. Funny how that keeps being the case! None of these people have normal lives or appearances.
Anyway, this is Chasm, who writes a series of chimp-themed murder mysteries. Conor and Bob will discuss his fascinating worldview and his admited series of physical af...

So many words, so many of them "monster"!
A jam-packed episode:
- Conor sails through several Sonic Challenges
- Mike, ahem, sails through Real or Fanfic
- Our listeners mail in and we steal it
- Believe it or not there are plenty of Dumb Sentences.
- There are GOFFS! (get it?)
For next time read through Chapter 9: Hey, we gotta get through this people.

As promised in the reveal episode, here are Mike, Sean Thomason, and I outside the theater on the release date of Twilight Eclipse. This was the third movie in the saga and it was apparent that we'd be doing all of them for RiffTrax, so we took the opportunity to be the weirdos in the theater. I do not remember much about the experience other than it felt borderline illegal for the three of us to ask the kid selling tickets "Three for Twilight". I also remember snickering at the poster for "W...

It's time to Meet another Author whose books are far too obscure even for this podcast. This week we're talking with Stiletto DiSantini, a savant in the oft-ignored genre of Snowmobile-Husband-Revenge-fiction (it's hopefully fiction!) We'll discuss how her personal life is reflected in her work and gain valuable insights into bear rug disposal methods.
Thanks as always to Bob Fingerman fo...

Hey folks, Conor here. Just spent five days camping in the Adirondacks. The weather was perfect, saw many beautiful sights, even some wildlife. But the only pic I deemed worthy to share with the jackals was this bucket I saw that was part of someone else's camping setup. May be the closest we'll ever get to a real life Bleriana's bucket sighting.
I did not ask what was in it.

Mike and Conor try to make sense of this madness. They come up empty.
Still, there are highlights: Conor does a sonic challenge sexily. Mike manages not to follow a single plot point. The Dumb Sentences of the Week burst forth like milk and honey from the promised land. (Dumb despite the great work from Raven and Medusa!)
PLUS This ep compares our author's work to:
- James Joyce
- The Bible
- The Tempest
- David Foster Wallace
