I love walking, but the darker colder season combined with some muscle problems to make it harder for me to get out every day. I've been working on healing up the muscle damage, and I'm trying to get back to my regular walks. I picked up the most astonishingly acid-green shawl/scarf thing to throw over my coat when I go out after dark. It reminds me of the florescent colors people were wearing in the late 80's early 90's. It's so hideous it's funny, and I think it significantly lessens the ch...

Not much to say tonight because I just want to get this posted and hurry back to the other work I'm handling tonight (and I haven't been doing much so there isn't much to say.) I hope the year is going well so far for all of you!
Thank you, and I'll be back soon with colors!

Well, here we are in the New Year, and I hope it's a good one for everyone! I'm very tired after all the holiday work, and when I've posted the page I'm going to take a much-needed nap. Or watch Reanimator. I haven't decided which.
Last night we played Wingspan with our friends, a board game about birds. As with everything reality based, I think it needs more dragons, but I still had a lovely time seeing our out-of-town friends. I'm not very good at keeping track of things during board ...

I had the pleasure of having my Mom over to watch the last Downton Abbey movie, which I believe came out not too long ago. She had watched the whole series and kind of knew that another thing was coming out, but didn't know when or how to watch it. It was fun to see the last hurrah of the show, and I got to make my Mom happy.
I had already watched the whole series and enjoyed it. I know if I had lived back then I'd at best have been doing someone's dishes, but I love looking at th...

Oh my, all the rain we didn't get last Summer is coming down at once. It's spectacular.
I took a much-needed walk with one of the kids today, the rain was fairly mild when we left but part way through it picked up again and we got a bit of a soak.
We stopped at the local bakery and picked up some fattigmann, a type of cookie my grandma liked very much but didn't get time to make very often. This year I'm following her tradition: I have the recipe and the tools but not ...

Hey everybody! I'm not sure if we'll have colors on time because we are not going to insist Cheyenne pick up our slack when he should be relaxing with his wife and child. (Edit: he did it last night anyway, he says he doesn't want to have to catch up later. At least he didn't have to do it actually ON Christmas. We are impressed.)
Instead, I've uploaded the first version of the first panel. Poor Phil. First I tell him "we need to see the cool landscape they're walk...

The snow was lovely, but now it has settled into an alarming ice sheet. Combined with our lovely hills and indifferent road preparation (why clear and sand/salt when those things are so bad for our water and the snow will be gone soon anyway?) we just aren't going anywhere.
I watched The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and I must say the visuals hit me right in the aesthetic sweet spot. It was beautiful. Also I think it shows how out of touch I am that I only just heard it existed, and ...

Christmas is almost here, and once again I need to muck out the back room so my Mom has somewhere to sleep when she comes over. Since the rest of the year it's the room where we shove everything that doesn't have a place, things get wild.
It's still snowing in Seattle, and ordinarily I love it but I'm a little worried about getting my Mom here if it keeps up.
I'm finding weird things as I clean up, things I didn't remember I had. Like the metal loopy thing that spins on a pl...

I love walking in the snow, and I had a fine opportunity to do it yesterday when the sky dropped huge flakes just long enough for me to take a walk down the street to get the mail. With everyones decorations out, it was a lovely walk.
I saw in the comments a request for a slightly larger image to make things easier to read on phones, and it seems like a good extra to give you guys, so this one's a bit bigger. I usually just upload the same thing I post on the web site but I've made a ne...

I know we're horsing around with Hector here a lot, it's because we're having fun. I think he wound up looking like Agatha put herself through some kind of specialized lab equipment, and yet he's such a dope. This was not on purpose but I love it. (I mean, Hector being a dope is on purpose. Him looking like Agatha was a happy accident of being drawn by the same guy and having the same coloring.)
You know what wasn't fun today? Fighting with my computer which only wanted to play an activ...

We decorated our tree! Every year when we open our boxes of ornaments we're faced with the fact that after over 30 years together, we have amassed a ridiculous number of tiny festive dinosaurs and airships.
There are also robots, adorable woodland animals, probably Sir Isaac Newton, and a saucy witch, but by far the largest categories are dinosaurs and airships.
I was out sweeping the leaves off the walk again this morning when I looked up to see I had an audience of crows. They w...

Okay--
I agree about the punctuation on the previous page, so thank you!
In other adventures in the digital arts, I've been happily using the type 1 font Comicrazy from Comicraft for the last 20 odd years. I love the fonts from Comicraft. But now, Adobe Illustrator has stopped supporting type 1 fonts. SO! I have upgraded to the new version of Comicrazy, which is an open type font and has many advantages over the old version.
BUT GUESS WHAT THE DISADVANTAGE IS?&nb...

I'm getting ready to send some Christmas presents to the family in New York, so I've got paper all over the dining room. I've left it a bit late again.
I've started watching Avatar (Airbender, not big blue cats) with my kid, I'd never got around to seeing it. We started to watch it last year, but only got a couple episodes in before things got busy, so we've picked it up again. I know I'm late to every party, but I get there...

Ha! I still need to come up with a name for this thing. To be honest I haven't given it a thought at all. I should do that. (No suggestions yet please, let us take a whack at it first. Our ideas may not be the best ones out there, but we do like them to be ours.) Especially since it's turning into something a lot longer than we planned. I'm enjoying it, so there's that.

Hey! I finished lettering Friday's page early! So here it is, and I'll get those colors up when they come in.
I probably should have explained in my last post that the reason I was only able to now create a purple dragon named Growf in World of Warcraft is that they've just released the new expansion and the dragon guys (Dracthyr, they aren't really dragons exactly you see, because they're actually ARGH ARGH ARGH NO STOP NOBODY CAAARES!) Ahem. The dragon guys are a new type of playable ...

IT SNOWED TODAAAAAAY! Okay, just a little, and then the rain made it all go away, but it was still neat.
My Mom gave me a trailcam a while back, and I put it out facing a pumpkin we had sitting out in the front garden. I now have SO MUCH footage of squirrels going in and out of a hole they chewed in the pumpkin. I also got a bunch of night footage of...well...our local rats. Pumpkin went into the yard waste after that. Still, I want to find time to edit it all together and run some appr...

Well! Thanksgiving happened, and so did the traditional wind storm and power outage, although it was a day late and quickly solved. There's a biggish branch down on the sidewalk a couple of blocks away that I'm tempted to go steal for art reasons, but I don't know if I'll really get around to it.
I've started reading Gideon the Ninth, a book I bought because my kid wanted to read it. I'd heard about it a lot online, so I was happy to steal it once he was done with it, and I really like ...

WARNING: I'm talking about dead rats again below. Sorry about that.
Ooookay, I'm embarrassed about this story because I just told you about Ratty, who is buried WAY BACK in the back garden, and now when I tell you the latest tale of stupid adventure it's going to sound like we're filthy people awash in a sea of rats, but I swear we're not, we just live in the city with a lot of green around, so there are rats outside. There just are.
ANYWAY: Although we've never had rats or mice i...

Ok, so my Mom found a dead rat in her back yard and because we are basically goblin people she brought him to me and I was all "Oh boy, he's beautiful, THANK YOU!" and planted him in a big flower pot waaaay at the back of the garden where he will stay until he's just bones. I know how to clean the bones so they're not gross (well, as not gross as a rat skeleton can be) and I want to put him back together like a puzzle and wire him up to look pretty under a glass dome.
I hope that ...

So I guess Twitter is imploding, I hear jokes about it filtered through my kids via Tumblr. The truth is that I don't spend much time on the social media, except to let people know when a new page is up. I use Hootsuite for that a lot, which takes me yet another step away.
I think I might like it like that.
That said, I've checked, and the Mastodon account I made a couple of years ago is still functional, so I should go figure out how that one works. (EDIT) My Tumblr account...

I finally got around to watching The Sandman adaptation on Netflix, and I loved it. The Dream of a Thousand Cats episode was especially interesting, Bobo (the Saint) heard the cat mews at the beginning, whipped round and watched the whole thing intently. I've never seen this cat care about anything on the television before. He watched a little bit into Calliope too, but quickly got bored and stopped, probably when h...

We have a neighborhood nearby that is apparently known all over the city for handing out exceptional Halloween loot. I never took my kids there for reasons (see footnote), so this is the first year I went for a walk in what turned out to be a small but energetic festival crowd. It was people-watching gold, and I want to put together some kind of walking parade float of a costume to stroll around in next year, just to add to the fun.
At home, I handed out Pocky as long as the supply last...
