LGR Thrifts - Episode 41
Woo, new Thrifts!
Now to begin the long process of working on the next one, which let's be honest will probably not have enough footage until April :P

EDIT: 1080p60 and 4k60 should be working now!
Folks have been asking me about more LGR Christmas Clone lore.
Well. Dive into this. And do check out the room during the intro ;)
Christtmmaaaaassss.
Greetings folks! I hope that you have a relaxing time ahead over the next few days.
I'd planned to have the final LGR holiday video out this evening, but my seasonal traveling and the Lazy Green Giant capture PC dying last week really quashed my productivity. Got it fixed though, so hopefully things will be back on track soon.
Thank you so much for supporting LGR here on Patreon. I've received a bounty of thoughtful messages and well-wishes over the past week regarding my 32nd bi...
EDIT: First few uploads were stuck at 360p due to YouTube being... YouTube.
Fixed now though with this version, enjoy in full 4K60 as intended!
When I covered the PC Action Replay on Oddware recently, I mentioned there was a US version sold under the GameShark branding. I've since received a complete in box example that we can test out!
And eh, the results really aren...
So yeah I covered both Lemmings and Holiday Lemmings for the Amiga years ago, but at the insistence of my Christmas Clone here we are again! This time it's all DOS.
Pretty massive improvement from my old video, haha. Hope you enjoy this one! Got one more Christmassy game to cover after this one, another holiday-themed video before (or after) that one, then it'll be back to the usual LGR fare.
It's time for Christmas Lazy Game Reviews!
And kicking off the festivities this season is Christmas Stories: Nutcracker. It's a hidden object adventure game with some unexpected weirdness.
Prepare yourself for clones and enjoy!
Tweeted this last month and got quite a bit of interest! So here's a video about putting together an alternative to the PlayStation Classic.
Really just a Raspberry Pi in a 3D printed case, but it's still more functional and versatile than Sony's offering :P
LGR just reached a million subs on YouTube!
Truly a moment I never thought that I'd see when I started nine years back, haha. Thank you for your support on Patreon and elsewhere all this time :)
The more I played this game, the more things I had to say. And not all for good reasons, as you may expect considering the negative press this game's been receiving.
Man. Bethesda, get your crap together.
Happy almost-Thanksgiving! At least here in the US :)
I'm headed off to enjoy some turkey, family, and friends for the next few days.
But for now I've got an odd little video on an odd little device here. This is the Datel Action Replay for Windows 9x from 1998! It's a device that plugs into the parallel port and runs some trainer software to let you cheat in a small handful of PC games.
And I don't know why, haha. I mean, for consoles these things made sense in the late '90s. B...
Yet another Sims 4 pack... turns out this one is pretty awesome! Unexpectedly so, I've never been a fan of these celebrity packs before. But being able to simulate life as a YouTuber is just too fun.

Unbelievably, Half-Life is turning twenty years old this month. Time flies, jeez.
So I've got a retrospective because it's as good a time as any. Grab a crowbar and I hope you enjoy, this has been a long time coming!
Received a number of questions about capturing video footage directly from classic PC hardware after doing my MCE2VGA review.
While I made a video like this a couple years back, what I use and how I use it has changed so it seemed like a quick kinda video to make. Hope it's helpful to those that have asked!
So this is the kind of device I've been wanting for years. Easily and efficiently converts MDA/CGA/composite CGA/EGA/Tandy graphics modes to native VGA! And this video has been in the works for a little while now, but things almost never go as planned when it comes to retro computing-related projects it seems.
I first got this device back at the very end of September, messed with it for a while, filmed a whole bunch of stuff, had the video about 98% complete. Just about everything was rea...
Does anyone make YouTube channel trailers anymore?
Oh well, I made a new one for LGR since the video I've been working on had to be briefly postponed. Enjoy!
Slowly recovering from my Red Dead Redemption 2 binge over the past five days, but alas: retro technology continually calls my name so here we are.
This is an early version of the next LGR episode for ya! There will be an updated video replacing this in the next day or two as I've already made some slight factual corrections and visual tweaks in an upcoming draft, but what's here is 99% awesome I hope. [EDIT: DONE]
Been working on this machine over the past couple months (off and o...
Couldn't post this one here early due to the press embargo, but here it is now!

Had never heard of this program until recently, but was inspired to cover it after recently receiving it as a donation. Mid-90s activity centers are pretty much always a fun distraction :)

Been a few months since one of these. Got a bunch to catch up on!

You probably saw this coming if you watched the last bit of the recent LGR WinXP PC build video.
Always enjoyed these mid-2000s Creative cards, if anything for their EAX capabilities with certain games. The X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champ whatever series has continued to be a holy grail of sorts to me for over a decade so let's dive into this thing and see what it does!
EDIT: Video has been updated a fair bit, with footage of the Director's Edition, a new "slow-mo montage," and multiple clarifications, corrections, and expanded thoughts throughout. Should now be the final version that'll go public next week. Enjoy!

Now here's a fun thing to see in action, I think. Turns out you can play Motor City Online offline! At least somewhat.
This was a Need For Speed spin-off MMO that was shut down back in 2003. I was unfortunately never able to play it before it was killed off. Fortunately the offline patch available nowadays works wonders! You can only play offline single player against AI racers, but still, it's better than nothing. And as a lifelong NFS fan it's just neat to expe...
Found this on an episode of LGR Thrifts, just had to give it a look.

The goal with this one was to put together a dedicated gaming machine using the best parts circa 2007/2008. Mainly because I just think it'd be fun, but also because I have some future projects in mind that require such a beast.
And there's simply something more arbitrarily enjoyable to me to play mid-2000s PC games on a dedicated XP build, especially one as high end as this would've been back then costing $3,588.
On uploading this I already see a couple things that need changing o...
STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM.
This one's been a long time coming indeed. Was inspired to finally get to it after completing another (somewhat related) video project which you'll be seeing here soon :)
Yeah I'm just enjoying talking about retro cameras lately. Here's one of the more amusing ones from my collection: the Mitsubishi DJ-1000!
Probably the last camera video for a little while, though I do have another two that I want to talk about eventually. Hope you enjoy this one in the meantime :)
Also: many of you have gotten in touch regarding the hurricane since I live in North Carolina. Thank you very much for the well-wishes! I am doing quite all right in my little corner of ...
This tale has been in the works for some time! This whole set of stories and tech seems to be all but forgotten these days and the info has been tricky to piece together. Quite happy with how this turned out though, lemme know what you think!

A simpler video about a simple device while I work on more involved things. I'm quite happy with the way this turned out aesthetically though, feeling more comfortable than ever with my lighting/camera/lenses.
