Adjustable printed Single/Dual Z motor mount

My newest revision (re-made from scratch) of a single/dual Z motor mount.
Learning from my previous iterations. so this is  technically v3

  • 6x M3x8
  • 2x M3 t-nuts
  • Print in PETG or better - NO PLA
  • high infill 30% or more

There's now an optional 2mm plate that goes below the motor, so the motor can sit right on it.

If you don't want to disconnect the Z coupler ...

Example of a Klipper config

edit: This was an older version of klipper running, and I just updated, the dual color setup here won't work anymore. , things are depreciated in the latest version of klipper. But the rest should still be valid

Posted by request.
This is not to be used as is. it's a mess, but a beautiful working mess for my setup.

But if you wanted to take a peak at mine here it is

If you have any questions don't hesitate.

Things to keep in mind...

Phaetus TaiChi, dual Color Hotend on SaturnOrbiter

The hotend mount is done and working great (will be added to the SaturnOrbiter files very soon)

Initially thought it would be a crazy setup with dual direct drive, but turns out it's not bad at all. Does look beasty though!

I needed a second extruder, so I scavenged parts from a BMG clone to make my own sherpa mini and printed in PETG.

Not ready for prime time yet, at least on my end, as I need t...

Impossible print with the SaturnOrbiter !?

Saw a post on the ender3 subreddit of someone printing an ornament with a single line contact edge, looked insane and thought it was worth the challenge of trying it myself just for fun and a good trial for the SaturnOrbiter.

A 20mm cube on it's edge was surprisingly easy, and worked the first time. but upping the stakes, bigger print and smaller contact point.

I reduced the contact point to 2mm, lost adhesion, 4mm, lost adhesion, and finally 6mm and it stuck after a few tries and...

This is a tiny bit outdated, should still give you most of the info needed, heat insert count is probably off (Bltouch offset have been updated ) , if you have doubts on anything don't ever hesitate to contact me on discord.

And heat inserts can now both be 4.6mmOD or 5mmOD, but still 4mm long = ( 5.7mm might be ok in most plac...

Crazy concept idea - Phaetus TaiChi dual color Dual Direct Drive

Phaetus is soon to release the TaiChi hotend, a dual color one, and this popped in my mind, Dual Direct drive with two orbiter extruder 2.0 (since it's smaller, but could probably work with orbiter extruder 1.5 or dual sherpa mini )
I don't know how doable it would be in reality, but fun to think about.

This beast would probably weigh 500~550g ( 300g of it being the extruders ), so the SaturnOrbiter would be a perfect candidate for it, thanks to its rigidity.

I don't have any...

SaturnOrbiter - New shroud in the making, spiritual successor to the MarsOrbiter

Edit: the beta is out, become a second level membership and you'll get access to it. Thanks in advance for your support!!

This is what the earlier pototype of the  boxy shroud turned into, I present to you the SaturnOrbiter, dual 5015 like the MarsOrbiter, but laid-out differently

Still has a few things that needs tweaking, but otherwise functional and better in everyway compared to the MarsOrbiter

If you want to be an early tested/adopter/...

MarsOrbiter - Installation Ender3/pro/v2 Cr10

Base Screws:

  • 4x~6x - M3x6 - M3x8 will work too, they will just stick out the back (mounting to backplate and mounting hotend, ender3v2 has two extra optional mounting places for extra rigidity)
  • 1x - M3x8 (connecting two printed part together)
  • 4x - M3x30 (front fan)

Orbiter 1.5:

  • 2x - M3 nuts
  • 2x - M3x10 - <...

Boxy - early prototype stage shroud

Even though it looks is quite different from the Mars Orbiter style wise, it support the same setups. This is just to layout things and test tolerance.

  • dual 5015
  • multiple hotends
  • orbiter extruder 1.5 & 2 , sherpa mini, BMG
  • easy to print, with no support

But has some advantages, tigher tolerance for 5015, yet easier to install.
Hot melt inserts
Open cable channels, that are later covered for a clean look.
Super sturdy design, the ...

CAD dimensions reference

last updated: Dec 28, 2021

There are things you learn when doing CAD for 3D printing, only after lots of trial and error or looking at other cads and how they did it (but then you have to trust they did it correctly). This is a reference of things that are solid and tested.
All models forward will be using these, but old model I made may not be as good, and will someday need revisiting

Using a common 0.4mm nozzle
