As promised in the morning post, here comes my first piece of build/buy mode CC!
It's a conversion of a mesh found on the sketchfab page, originally by a creator named Gonya. You can find it HERE. Obviously, 99% of the credit goes to that person. My own input is minimal; the OG mesh was even low poly from the start, so there was no need for any adjustments. A perfect piece for beginners!
But I did add slots to the scales, so that you could put some products on them, and added some new swatches. Altogether there are 5:

(I also learned that there are no slots for huge objects on kitchen counters, even though they are there on islands and tables, even the small ones, and I'm just like... WHY? What's the logic behind it? Why can't I put a small TV on a kitchen counter?)
Also, the original creator called it USSR scales and someone in the comments even wrote it reminds him of early 2000s marketplaces, but I think they can also work for waaaay earlier eras. I got similar results when googling 1900s scales (keyword: Dayton). Obviously those ones aren't that shiny and pretty, but it's not like the belle epoque was always all that belle, right?
Hope you'll find some use for them in you games! My own shops for sure will keep using them until 1990s :D.

Hi everyone!
You might have noticed that it’s been some time since my last CC piece, so I wanted to quickly let you know what’s going on.
You probably know that my main motivation for learning how to mesh and create my own sims clothes was that I couldn’t find anything appropriate for the 1890s decade. Now, a few pieces later, for the first time since half a year ago, I feel like I reached my goal: all my sims are dressed properly... Which is a great thing, but it also means I kind of lost my drive.
I don’t want to say I’m done with making outfits - absolutely not. I just don’t feel this need any more to create one piece after another, as quickly as possible, publishing a new one every week. I’m rather interested in honing my skills, getting better in Blender and trying out new things. Making objects, which is a tad different than making clothes. Learning some tuning. Maybe poses, maybe animations. Eventually even modding, why not? ...In some distant future, I mean.
Currently I’m getting familiar with making build/buy mode CC. My first object - a simple conversion, which you might have spotted on my tumbler, in the butcher’s & fishmonger’s screenshots - is almost ready and I hope to publish it today in the evening (European time). I’m thinking also of making a certain set of minimally altered BG items. And, obviously, I am planning to make a new dress - probably for children, as Klementyna is about to grow up any second and the dress with puffed sleeves will soon be completely out of fashion.
As for non-sims stuff... I take that whole Decades Challenge way too seriously (as you might have noticed ^^), so I’d love to dedicate some more time to reading about late XIX and early XX century. There are certain books I found - some of them I even started - which could be very helpful to my story.
That’s more or less it. I just wanted to let you know what you can expect from me in the nearest future, so that a sudden object here and there wouldn’t take you by surprise.
Wishing you all a nice day!

After some 2 months I finally made a folk outfit for my male villagers!
Everything I said about the female version still applies. Mid-north-west Poland, cornflowers, poppies. Cuiavian folk outfits quickly got out of use and disappeared completely after WWI - to the point where folk museums had problems even completing their collections, as the villagers had simply thrown their old garments away. Back in the 1890s they were still doing fine though, so I'm not going to miss this opportunity to use them in my save!
The outfit comes in 6 swatches: 2 shirts' x 3 trousers' colours. It was the best I could come up with; due to that lack of original pieces it's quite difficult to find any reference pictures, and most of the available ones look almost exactly the same... So I'm glad I managed to make at least those 6 :).

- Base Game Compatible
- HQ mod compatible
- high and medium shoes compatible, as you can see in the swatches picture (there's some clipping only with the BG cowboy shoes, for some reason, but the rest should be fine)
- custom bump, shadow, specular maps (no shine) & thumbnail
- tagged as everyday, formal, party and hot weather, & with proper colours
Don't claim it's yours or post on potentially dangerous sites... And feel free to do with it anything else. You can check my TOUs for more details, but it really boils down to this. Recolour, edit, improve it to your heart's desire, I don't mind! Or rather: I'd be glad if you used it to make something cool :).
PDN file included in case someone wants to recolour.
Known problems:
1) The right side of the collar is clipping a teeny tiny bit if your sim's chest is too narrow/sunken/skinny. No idea why. Trust me, I tried everything. It's just a bit of clipping (you can see it in the swatches' picture actually), so I hope you don't mind! Just put your sim's chest a bit higher and it'll disappear.
2) The belt/scarf can be clipping a bit with the sim's legs while walking, depending on his body type and walk style. It's almost not there, but sometimes a blue dot shines through.
3) The scarf looks super weird when your sim sits down. To put it bluntly, it becomes a hot mess. I tried. I failed. I don't even know if it's any solvable, as the game doesn't understand the concept of gravity. So if you want to take pretty pictures with your sims sitting while wearing this outfit, you'll have to avoid certain angles. I'm sorry for this!
Hope you'll still enjoy it and find some use for it in your game :)

05.10.2020 edit: updated with new CAS placement and got rid of the weird shine (visible especially on lighter hair). Please redownload!
Note: the bangs are meant for Maxis match (clay) hairstyles. They won't work properly with most alpha hair. You can try it though, maybe you'll be lucky :).
***
I got some feedback that my original version of Parisa Bangs didn't work as intended for some people, so I decided to quickly remake them... with small changes.
In case you didn't see my original post (which is going to be deleted now, as I obviously don't want you guys to download non-functional CC), those bangs are just a teeny tiny edit of other creators' work. Originally they were a part of @teanmoon‘s Parisa hairstyle, then got separated by @atashi77, and finally I shortened them for my own gameplay, as I had the feeling they would be great for imitating 1890s hairstyles.
Just as Atashi’s version, they take over the texture of the hair you’re using, so no recolours are needed.
Just like Atashi’s version once again, they don’t match every single hairstyle. With some - e.g. those with side parting - the bangs look plain stupid. If the hairstyle is too flat, the fringe looks like it’s floating in the air. Sometimes the texture looks weird, esp. on lighter hair. However, there’s a reasonable number of updos, even no-CC ones, that will work both for the fringe and for the era.

(No 1. and 3.: Luxury Party SP; no. 2: Lily Hair by @saurussims ; no. 4... no idea, sorry).
If I managed not to screw something once again, the bangs should be:
- Base Game compatible
- HQ mod compatible
- hat slider compatible, which should solve the 'floating fringe' problem
- found under bracelets, so that you could wear them with 'floating' hats (i.e. not using hat chops, i.e. the majority of vintage hats out there)

You might remember that in my original post I included an edit of another creator's hairstyle with those bangs attached, so that you could put a hat on it. As the hat problem is solved, I'm not going to post that edit - which made me feel uncomfortable in the first place - again. As I said, the fringe should be now fully hat-compatible, so just go and combine it with any hairstyle you want :).
Let me know if there are any problems!

First things first: my Tumblr statistics claim already over 1000 people decided to follow my page - and it's just INSANE. Thank you guys so much!!! I've never expected so many simmers to appreciate what I'm doing in here. Sure, I hoped for some small group of history nerds to find my blog, download a thing or two once in a while, but definitely not for this. Once again, my biggest thanks to you all! If I felt like a superstar with 300 followers then I lack words to describe how I feel now.
Here comes a small gift for you. Since I read that Discover University would introduce bicycles to TS4, I knew I have to make a proper cycling outfit for our late XIX century ladies. It was exactly the time when women were beginning to be more active, in a very sporty way, and one of those socially acceptable sports/activities for them was - you guessed it - cycling.
I tried to recreate a French design from 1897. It's still quite moderate, as it includes a skirt, not bloomers... The ankles though! Scandalous!
It comes in 24 swatches, mostly in very autumny colours. Obviously I didn't photograph all of them; here are some of my personal favourites:

(Oh, and there's a hat as well, duh. With 4 swatches, matching the 4 different colours/shades of the jacket. Yes, all 4 are visible above, you just have to look closely ^^).
- BG compatible
- HQ mod compatible
- hat slider compatible (I mean... only the hat ^^)
- tagged as everyday and athletic
- custom everything, no shine
- as usually, it's a mix of frankenmeshing, new mesh and mesh editing
- no problems spotted, but please let me know if you notice anything wrong
- PDN files provided in case anyone wants to make recolours. You don't need to download them for the outfit to work!
I just hope our ladies will even be able to wear this hat instead of that default helmet...
Download below and enjoy :)
Just to warn you: the next piece will be folk-related, as I desperately need to properly dress all my villagers and finally proceed a bit with my game. I NEED to go back to playing. The call of the sims gods is strong.

I know I promised no spookiness, but my sim just made this super creepy facial expression and it would have been a shame not to use it ^^.
So! Another carnival outfit for your sim ladies. This one is a bit more modern, as the design comes already from the XXth century. I was trying to stick as close as possible to this picture:

Comes in 7 swatches (I found so many beautiful rainbow patterns that I couldn’t decide which one to choose… So I used all of them ^^).

- Base Game compatible
- HQ mod compatible
- Works for all body types (and I know you’re probably thinking something like ‘duh, why shouldn’t it?’, but trust me, getting those pearly drops under the breastplate to work with big boobies was a HUGE achievement. It put me in a great mood for the rest of the day :D)
- Custom bump map, shadow map, thumbnail
- LOTS of specular - especially the breastplate reflects light like crazy
- Uses glass shader for sleeves’ transparency = this effect will be lost if you’re in laptop mode! It shouldn’t be a big deal, as they’ll just turn solid. They won’t look as cool, but they also won’t look silly.
- Tagged as casual, formal, party and hot weather, with proper colours
I was considering making the necklace and headpiece shown on that inspiration picture as well, but in the end decided against it. They are not as unusual as in case of last week’s outfit - and there are so many beautiful accessories already out there that you’ll for sure find something that will go well with this dress. Even that BG necklace. Or that headpiece - it looks nothing like the inspo, but I think it matches the outfit very well:

I haven’t spotted any issues, but as always: if you do, please let me know!
PDN file included, in case anyone wants to make recolours.
And just a couple of in-game pictures, ‘cause they are too pretty to not share them:

Happy Halloween everyone!
As promised, today I'm releasing my treats from the first Simblreen weekend. All 3 of them are parts of the same outfit, so I thought I'd be better to release them all together. I hope you'll like them!
It's supposed to be a twilight carnival outfit, based on this picture from 1896:

Personally I love it, but I must admit, it was the most problematic of the pieces I’ve been working on so far. Honestly, it made me feel like I’m back to July and have no clue how to do a thing, as nothing worked as it was supposed to. Big heartfelt thanks to @javitrulovesims and @teanmoon for helping me go through the whole process without going crazy and for sorting the dress out! I don’t think I’d have ever finished this one if it hadn’t been for your help <3.
Don’t worry, though, now it works beautifully :).
- BGC
- HQ mod compatible
- 2 swatches for the dress and headpiece (with golden or silver stars), 3 swatches for the gloves (navy, dark navy and black)
- the veil works with a number of hairstyles. I tested it mostly with CC, but you can as well use the BG low bun or basically any of the hairs without excessive volume.

- smooth bone assignment ( = moves with the sim’s whole body, not just stiffly with the head)
- uses glass shader for transparency (my first time, yeah!) = won’t work properly in laptop mode! The sleeves of the dress will look way uglier and the veil will turn solid, so your poor sims won't be able to see anything through it.
- works for all body types
- custom thumbnails & bumpmap
- custom specular - I mean, really custom, not just ‘shine removed’ type of custom. This one really sparkles! Another first time of mine
- tagged as everyday, formal, party and witch, whatever that last category is supposed to mean
- disallowed for random, I think? At least the headpiece definitely is.
I haven’t spotted any issues, but if you see anything, please let me know!
Enjoy :)

I’ve been mentioning it already for some time, but let’s do it properly for once: I’ll be giving away some treats during this year’s Simblreen! In case you don’t know it yet, we’re getting started on 18th October :).
The sad news is, that means I need to prepare some stuff in advance. So, no CC this week, not even a ‘small side project’. I’d love to share something at least next week, but... Well, we’ll see how it goes. I can’t promise anything.
I got super excited about participating in this event and originally had huuuuge plans, but life, work and some health issues got in my way. Long story short, I won’t manage to prepare 6 different outfits, one for each day, no matter how much I’d like to do so (yep, that was my original plan). But for sure I’ll make something - the 1st costume is coming together quite nicely, I dare to say - and I hope it’ll be worth all the waiting, so please have some patience with me! I guess my blog will get quieter than usually in the next days, but that will just be a sign of me working on some treats for you and saving them for later.
Have a nice weekend you all!

04.10.2020 edit: updated with new placement in CAS and medieval colour theme, improved the weights (= smoother movement) and textures, made hq compatible. Added 2 new swatches as well. Watch out: the filename has changed! Please delete the old file (Apron ACC) if you redownload it, as the new package won't automatically overwrite it (but will conflict in game).
The quality you'll see in your game will differ depending on your sim details' graphics settings, but if your choose 'very high' and install the hq mod, it should look more or less like this:

Works without problems (i.e. explosions and spikes) in lower lods as well.

Weekend is coming, time for some new CC!
Today's piece has... nothing to do with anything I've been posting here so far. Let's call it another small side project. The idea kept following me ever since I came across this post. Reading stuff like 'this outfit would be great if you put an accessory apron on it' and at the same time 'this outfit should terminate in a skirt, not trousers, but look at that apron!' really makes you want to help solve this problem ;).
So, I separated the apron from outfit no. 4. It was originally made by someone named Myobi, but currently is available only on the Lost S4 CC Tumblr - so I guess it's ok for the creator, if they retired from CC making. At least I hope so. I tweaked it a little bit so that it would work with the outfits mentioned in Small Cowplant's post. Number one was a failure - too many frills at the bottom of that blouse - but it most certainly works with outfits no. 2 and 5., as you can see in the picture above.
You can find it in the left bracelet category.
Comes in the 4 original swatches: green, brown, greyish white and reddish (edit: also blue and grey). They are not as HQ as in the original outfit! I had to fit the same picture in like 10x smaller space, so... You know. The quality suffered from this. (Edit: this has been greatly improved - see the note above).
Base Game Compatible, of course.
Edit: HQ compatible.
All LODs included.
Custom thumbnail.
No shine, bump map or shadow, sorry.
Works for almost all body types. If you set the body fat on max and pull the belly slider as far as you can, this happens:

I tried to get rid of this annoying dot shining through, but to no avail. I hope it's not a big deal, as if you make the belly just a teeny tiny bit smaller, the clipping disappears. The other outfit seemed to be completely fine, but please let me know if you notice any problems!
I know it's totally random, but maybe someone will find it useful. Plus it's nice to do something different and not that practical once in a while ;).
And now I can proceed to get ready for Simblreen!

I received some requests to convert my TF dress for girls, so here it is!
Comes in the same swatches as the toddler version.
HQ compatible, custom everything, no shine (it's wool, duh).
Known problems: the sleeves clip with the body if the sim is standing still. Looks especially silly in CAS. It's annoying, as it's the sleeves 'eating away' the body and not vice versa (which I'd definitely prefer). Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it - I tried sizing the sleeves down to reduce the clipping, but didn't like the results and reverted them to their original state. I mean, that extreme volume is the coolest thing about them, right?
Also, the sleeves look weird if the sim is bending the arm, because they cover the elbows. The only way to solve it would be to either move the sleeves up - which I didn't want to do - or make the game think elbows are located somewhere lower. I don't actually know whether the 2nd option is possible, but even if it is, that would probably look even weirder than that sudden bend in the puff. It seems we have to live with this one too.
So, yeah - it's a bit problematic, but I'd say it still makes for a nice dress for 1890s girls, especially if you don't scrutinize it with a magnifying glass ;). Hope you and your sims will enjoy it!
And here's how it looks in the game (courtesy of the beautiful Joanna, my new model):

As promised, a very non-folky dress this time. For your toddler girls, as they need something to wear in the winter season as well!
I was aiming at a simsy remake of the 2nd dress from the top:

It's supposed to be made of serge, so I really used a serge texture as a base. And fedora for the frill at the front. No, not fedora hat, I mean the material those hats are made of. In any case, thank you, Boston Mass., for providing me with such a detailed description - it made my dress come to life and look truly fluffy and warm!
Comes in 16 swatches: the same colours as last time + a new swatch of pigeon grey and pink (one of my favourites!):

- half-new mesh! (yes, I made this skirt from scratch, and in Blender! How cool is that? "Subdivide set" works wonders <3)
- HQ compatible! (another "first time" of mine! I needed a bigger texture resolution so that the braids wouldn't get all messy)
- all LODs included
- custom specular, shadow map and bump map
- custom thumbnail
- works for all body types
- Base Game compatible
- tagged with all the right colours and categories (casual, formal, party, outerwear, "situation")
- enabled for random, as I guess if you're interested in that dress, you're probably playing a historical save anyway - so you wouldn't mind your townies showing up in those
- as always: playtested, but please let me know if there are any problems!
- recolours allowed, including the mesh allowed, frankenmeshing allowed - basically, use it to create amazing things, just don't steal :)
Hope you'll have some fun with it! Have a nice day you all :)

This piece is now obsolete. An updated version can be found HERE.
I told you accessories don’t count ;)
I don’t actually know how universally ‘Slavic’ those beads are (plus I guess there must be a number of non-Slavic people who wear them as well), but in Poland they are a HUGE thing. Heck, even I, a city girl through and through, have my string of red beads, now, in 2019. And in folk outfits? Absolutely indispensable!
This was supposed to be just a small side project, but it was so easy that I decided to make 3 versions of the beads... And then, of course, it got way more complicated.

It comes, as planned in, 3 versions. Each of them has 2 swatches: bright red and dark red ^^ (ofc feel free to recoulour if you want more diversity). I dare to say they ended up looking quite cool, especially the Lush version.
HOWEVER:
They won’t match every single body type.
Have you ever noticed that there are no Maxis-made long necklaces? After my fight with those buddies, I think I know why. I don’t want to confuse anyone with the talk of UVs and weights, but to put it simple: if you make a necklace which reaches sims’s boobs, you have a choice between it getting badly distorted in this area or looking all pretty, but disappearing if the sim gets too curvy.
From what I’ve seen (yes, I downloaded a bunch of other creators’ CC to check how others solve this problem), most people go for the second option. I didn’t like this solution too much, so I experimented a bit with different versions, to find some compromise between those two extremes. What I ended up with is:
All the necklaces, even the longest one, will appear on MOST figures. The bigger the boobs, the bigger the clipping chance, but they seem to work on most of the realistic configurations. Unfortunately, that comes at a price: the beads WON’T stay all that pretty and round on each of those figures. The further you get from the ‘default’, the weirder they look. Body fat seems not to influence it too much, but sliders do, especially if the disproportions between body parts are big.
Still, I think it’s as good a compromise as one can make in this case. I’d say it’s better to have a necklace you can use on different sims, even if it doesn’t look perfect on all of them, than have it cut into boobs of all your curvier sims. Here’s how it looks in the game:

All this talk doesn’t apply to the ‘Simple’ version. This one should be perfectly fine, no matter what.
Also, I probably have to warn you: the polycounts of the necklaces range from “still OK” to “horrendously high”. It seems that’s what you get if your necklace is made of lots of small spheres!
The next thing will be folk-unrelated, I promise ;).
Enjoy (and ofc let me know if something else is off)!
PS. Oh, and in case you'd like to know the details: the long necklaces are UV-mapped, vertex-painted blue and fully assigned to the spine-1 joint. I tried solving the clipping problem by assigning them to the boobs, but... Let's say, it wasn't my best idea ever ^^.

I started working on this dress when I had literally one follower and I was sure no one cares what I'm going to create. Now I feel really awkward, as I bet you guys expected more pretty high-society dresses rather than Polish folk nonsense. Oh well. Here it is anyway :P.
If you google "Polish folk dresses" or anything similar, this dress will show only very late, if at all. You'll probably see mostly outfits from regions located around Warsaw or Cracow (I don't know how it is where you come from, but in this crazy country you get a different type of traditional dress every 50-150 km). This one comes from a relatively small region located more or less in the middle of Poland - slightly to the north-west. It matches my story perfectly, as back in 1890s Cuiavia was divided between Prussia and Russia - meaning, all my villagers can wear it, including the ones on the other side of the border :D. And they will be very happy to do it, because until now they had to do with those beautiful Norwegian bunads. Which are beautiful and all, just kind of... Norwegian.
It was one of the first Polish folk outfits to disappear: after the I WW even the most villagy of villagers didn't wear it anymore. It was also, as I learned while doing some research for this project, one of the most expensive ones, as it was made of silk. Only the richest peasants could afford it (so what did the ordinary village people wear? I wonder!). Luckily that won't be a problem in the sunny simworld.
The complete outfit should include also some accessories and a hat or a headpiece; there's also a winter version and, of course, corresponding outifts for men, not to mention other age groups... I'd love to create the whole Cuiavian set, but it would take lots of time and probably interest only a small number of simmers, so I thought it would be a good compromise to keep creating typically 1890sy stuff and folk stuff in turns. It'd be too much to call it a plan, but that's how I currently imagine it. Accessories don't count though! :D (I really really want to make some Slavic-style beading, this outfit feels so incomplete without it).
OK, enough blabbling, here's the important stuff:
- BG compatible
- all LODs
- works for all body types
- tagged as a long dress and with correct colours
- custom thumbnail
- comes in 7 swatches, though they are VERY similar to each other (apparently old-time Cuiavians were crazy about poppies and cornflowers, and didn't condone other colours). I forgot to photograph the last swatch and was too lazy to go back in game only for this, so you can see it only from the back:

- no problems noticed this time - please let me know if you see something's wrong
- and by Jove, PLEASE do recolour it. I feel like this mesh could be a great base for a number of folk outfits. I'll upload my main texture file as well, to make any recolouring easier.
Let me know if you like it and whether you can make any use of it in your own saves! Happy simming to you all :)

A dress for your XIX century toddler girls, inspired by a real, 1897 portrait by Józef Pankiewicz. The sleeves are not as cool and crazy as in the original, as I was afraid of some major clipping happening in there; still, they are the biggest puffed sleeves I've ever seen on any TS4 toddler outfit :).
Also, the girl in the portrait is 7 years old, which makes her a child even by my long-toddlerhood standards... But I don't have any children in my game yet and before they age up it'll be way too cold to wear this very summery dress. And I make my CC mostly for my own use, so... Yeah. I ended up making a toddler version.
All LODs, loads of solid swatches, works on all body types. There is some clipping in toddler chairs simply because the skirt is huge. It was thoroughly playtested, of course, but if you notice any issues, please let me know!

05.10.2020 edit: one of the versions of the dress was exploding when you zoomed out. I don't even remember which one tbh, I just remade all 3. Updated them with a new CAS placement as well. Please redownload!
Watch out: the filenames have changed! Those are new clones/packages, so technically you can have both them and the previous version(s) in your game, but I don't really see what for :P.
This is just a 'critical error fix'. I haven't touched the textures & bump map, the dress still isn't hq compatible. If I ever decide to upgrade those things, it'll be a full-blown re-release, and the final result will probably differ quite strongly from what you're getting now. It was my very first piece and I've learned lots since then, so obviously it's not necessarily up to my current standards... But until I make something better, it'll do.
***
EDIT: added a version without the bottom ribbons (V2) and without ribbons or those oval-shaped decorations (V3) + made small corrections to the textures (more specifically, the neck ribbon - you might want to redownload :))
I'm finally ready to share my first 1890s creation! It's heavily inspired by a picture found on the amazing Femmes en 1900 site (just type any year you're interested in in the Recherche box and enjoy the beauty :) ). I mean, quite obviously, the one on the right:

Comes in all the colours I ever saw on 1890s fashion plates; 14 swatches altogether, including a solemn black one.
Works for all body types.
All LODs included.
Known problems: the ribbons get a bit distorted when sims sit down and look pretty riddiculous when they walk. Unfortunately I don't think it's any solvable - TS4 in general is not very long-dress-friendly and even the Maxis made ones look weird in certain positions. On the other hand, one has to look really closely to notice something's off, so I hope it won't disturb you much.
Also, the top ribbon at the back gets stretched if you set body weight on max. It's just a bit of a stretch, nothing critical, so I hope you won't mind it too much - as (at least for now) I have no idea how to fix it.
It's been playtested, of course, but if you notice any problems I haven't, please let me know! Also, it's my first CC piece ever, so please have some understanding if it's not perfect.
Other CC used in previews:

Edwardian Hat by HSL (watch out, the most annoying url shortener ever!)
