Hey guys! So this might be a LOOONG post, but we wanted to let you all know ahead of time that we plan on making some Patreon reward changes this May (we want to leave things as-is for a couple months for anyone who recently joined specifically for the current rewards). A couple things are going away, but we're considering adding new things too (we'll go into details on those at the end of this post!)
This is something we've been thinking about for about 6 months now, and it's bec...

Checkout this aftershow for:
- 3D model of the v1 design ( https://a360.co/2TpUM3C )
- What we would change in v2 to make it better
- More thoughts on cat training
- Cost of our design vs others and how to make it cheaper
- Unexpected success of carpet
- Thumbnail fears
p.s. Don't actually use silicone, it requires air to cure. I might actually use rivets to upgrade ours.

Hey guys! So... the title says it all, we're making Joob a cat-sized hamster wheel! This is actually a type of thing that exists (but they range from $250 to over $1000!) We just finished putting together the top wheel part, it's made from oak plywood and white aluminum flashing (which we'll line with carpet on the inside).

Gonna start on the base today... I just hope she uses...

Hahaha #2 almost tipped it's cup over! We were actually worried about that so we setup barriers around the test. Inspecting each after the test we found something pretty surprising but I don't want to spoil the video :) Katelyn is uploading and finalizing everything now, excited to share with y'all! - E

A week or so ago, jacksfilms tweeted asking other creators how long they spent on thumbnails. It was really interesting reading the answers, ranging from 20-30 minutes to half-days to more. We're super not consistent... sometimes a thumbnail will come together in 30 minutes and sometimes it takes a full day. So many things to think about. We've been going back and forth about the thumbnail for the toast coasters so I thought I'd share a little bit about the different things we consider and al...

Gonna leave ice cold water on our toast coasters for an hour as a reasonable coaster usefulness test. RIVETING I KNOW!
I'm editing this one right now (as y'all know, I edit little by little as we go instead of filming everything, then editing everything), but so far it's been really fun for us. We've been thinking more about the concept of taking a bad 5-Minute-Craft (or Troom Troom or any bad DIY really) and trying to make it better. If people like it, maybe it could be a recurri...

In the name of actually trying to improve a 5-Minute Craft project, where they made toast coasters. Trying a few concrete version, and a couple resin versions. Resin is our favorite so far of course :P

WHY DOES IT LOOK SO TASTY???!?!

Sooo... bending resin works really well :D and it's very satisfying!

The bent resin works pretty well as lamps too!

Wanted to give y'all an update on our audio situation now that it is mostly finalized. Very happy with how things ended up turning out :) It has made making content MUUUCH easier and we're much happier with how everything sounds now! - E

Hey guys! Wanted to share what we're working on next, and we're gonna try bending partially-cured sheets of resin into lamps!

We got the biggest rigid silicone rectangular molds we could find, these guys are actually lasagna pans! But they have a really shiny surface finish and are the right size for what we're making.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Seeing the thermochromatic pigment change color when the resin hits was just so amazing 🤤🙌
It might be one of our silliest videos yet but is it weird if I think it's also beautiful? Might need to do something similar on a more "traditional" base sometime.

Y'all have probably seen this on reddit already:

It's so hilariously disturbing. And we thought it'd be really fun to make :P
Next week is a buffer (trying to build in more of those in 2020 to stay sane!) so this won't be out til 2/7, but at least that gives us a little extra time to think of a new idea if this turns out terrible haha.
Unlike our first mood ring project (the x...

Hey guys! For one of our simpler projects, this one sure had a lot of behind the scenes twists and turns. As in it's 100% a different project than what we originally pitched to Lowe's, heh 😅 In this Aftershow we cover:

- How this video almost didn't get made
- Our doubts if this would make for a good video
- Thoughts on this video’s shorter length

We also had to hop back inside real quick to get editing/working on the video metadata because we really want to sent this to Lowe's for approval tonight if possible!
But guys, it's so pretty! The lighting here is not all that great but the color and texture IRL is ❤️ Excited to share it with y'all soon! It was really fun taking ordina...

Hey guys! Thought we'd share what we're thinking for the next video - gonna do a faux grass and cedar outdoor wall art! The photo above is my photoshop mockup. We're using cedar trim and actually the same cedar fence posts we used on the fence for the wood, and artificial grass for the grass. Because it can't die and all that :P

So here's the current state of the workbench (those of y'all who ...

Hey guys! It's crazy to think that one of our very first Patreon goals a couple years ago was to upgrade our audio and we got this little mic to stick on top of our previously mic-less camera...

And now... we FINALLY feel like we've gotten out audio gear to a proper place. Having to capture audio from two people has always been a tricky issue to solve and our lav mics we've been us...

Yeah I know we just posted about new merch a little bit ago (on January 5th) but... things have already changed. We put on our responsible adult hats and went to file our taxes a little bit ago and realized that due to the way we were running our merch shop, we owed sales taxes in multiple different states. Places we were not registered for sales tax, where we don't have resale certificates, and all sorts of other complicated tax stuff. Basically it made us re-evaluate all things merch which ...

Happy launch day everybody! Have we mentioned we call Fridays (when we post our videos) launch day? Even though we're not "launching" anything, when we first started our channel we published 5 videos all at once and called it launch day because we were launching the channel, but it's become synonymous with posting videos now haha. Anyways! Here's what we cover in this Aftershow:
- How we might salvage the buy
- What was cut from the video (mainly Evan's trials with the LED)
- Thou...

Hey guys! We mentioned in a recent post about our next BUY vs DIY (where we're making a Cloud Light) that we were considering getting audience feedback on the two pieces (without saying which is which) to incorporate into the video, and y'all had the idea of posting it to Patreon instead of Instagram. So here we go!
Below are photos of the two pieces: one of them is the DIY version, and one is the bought version. We don't need you to guess which is which, what we need are opinions...
