Patreon is paused. Reasons:

Hey Guys,

So a lot of things has happened lately and sadly that has been severly reflected in the amount of content on this channel. For instance, until the end of 2019, I've been primarily working on my own. During that time I didn't have any real problems uploading content to Patreon. Then I started collaborating with Martin and in the past 8 months we "accidentally" grew from two to seven people and suddenly we had created a machine that needs entertaining, which was never really our...

I'm trying something. A "small" project that I've wanted to do for so long. It's a film involving a lot of food. So to get this thing going, I've started to scan a bunch of food models. I'll be sharing them with you gradually when I'm finishing them off. :-)

Using HDRI's as backplates with projection mapping

As mentioned in the previous post, this video walks you through a nice way to use projection mapping on your HDRI's to get real exterior perspective, that allows you to use your HDRI's as backplates with proper distance and scale while at the same time enjoying the benefits of having a backplate that perfectly matches your lighting both in terms of exposure, color and angle.

The video briefly explans my fanatism around HDRI's as I want to "rediscover" the way we can use them. Sadl...

"Havang" HDRI Pack

I was out with Martin today scouting some locations for the upcoming high-res HDRI's we're about to shoot with the "machine". Of course I took the Theta with me to shoot some random run&gun hdr's while we're at it.

You may wonder what the purpose of these are. There isn't any, really, but I'll be uploading a video very shortly in which I use them for demonstrating. However you'll see in the video that they work pretty frekking great to light interiors with, way better than I had e...

Questions about HDRI's

The HDRI's I've been sharing this morning doesn't really do much for the world, I'm aware. The resolution isn't that great, the image quality is questionable, but in all honesty, it's not as much about making great HDRI's as it is just something for fun and learning. Regardless, I'll be capturing new every now and then as I'll bring the camera to places I go, and of course I'll share them whenever I do.

The more interesting thing about HDRI's however is the machine I'm building which le...

Varvagen Evening Sun

More info about these HDRI's in an earlier post from this morning. Also note that they are underexposed for a reason. FStorm is clamping the higher values in the HDR, so if the HDRI's are exposed "normally", the sun will be clamped and "killed".

These are EXPERIMENTAL calibrated HDRI's.

PLEASE NOTE: These are only my tests from different stages of my testing process. Some are pretty good, others are not. Some have crappy stitching with visible seams, other...

Calibrated HDRI's (EXPERIMENTAL)

Disclaimer: This is something rather new to me and I'm not very experienced with color science. To someone more experienced than myself, this post might make me sound stupid. How would I know? :-)

Hey,

So I've spent quite some time the past week experimenting with a very quick way of shooting HDRI's and evaluating its output. To be more precise, shooting HDRI's with a Theta 360 Camera.

It's certainly NOT a perfect way of shoo...
