Part of a set of gag comics for an issue of a magazine that will have the overall theme of "scams." The gags are all taken from classic scams of the day that have names like "the melon drop" and etc.

Not sure what amount of the magazine this is for i can or can not give away info about. It's not MAD, tho maybe it would be an okay idea to try and pry my stuff back in there. There's a gumby crange just out of shot, but when the book comes out, we'll do fuller page spreads that show the whole thing (hopefully). There are several pages through-out the comic where this has happened and I have made sure they will at least be seen a little more properly in the book. some downtime during the summer. A small vacation visiting parents will be coming to a close by the end of this week. But I was able to eke out two pages during my stay. Mostly tho, I remembered how I didn't really want to bring work with me outside of the office and got depressed, then hung out more with my family which made me feel better and also stressed me out. WOOOOOO, god. I am trying to get ahead of myself before traveling home next week and I have the next several pages after this penciled. Just gotta take a day to do each page while also finishing up the BACK book plates. Just feel rushed a little. These pages are good tho, shit starts to happen and it's fun to draw at least.

NO shade to the kids, i respect that game. I just also know what its like to play on either side of it, creator and details-obsessor.

Attempting to give Emerson a similar color scheme or similar aesthetic to how I figured out how to make Crange not feel naked without actually giving either of them clothes. I also keep thinking of Zorak from SGC2C and studying his beak and his head and his vest and trying to replicate that in some form with Emerson's look. Maybe they SHOULD just have a vest!

Maybe it would help if I studied a praying mantis, which is what Emerson is supposed to be. Maybe I would get some kind of mind thought ...

I wish I spent today a little more responsibly, but what's done is done. the second good boy for the week will have to be pushed to friday, but I did spend a good chunk of time doing a second pass of the writing on this page and feel very good about it, especially the third panel joke. 

I can't wait to get to the greasy and violent parts of this whole final act. You're gonna have a gross time.

Here's today's haul of working. Getting the bones of the scene in place then I'll fuck around with the backgrounds and make em move to show the rickety-ness of the bridge.

A part of me is wearing down and wanting to switch over to the Adobe™ line of video editing stuff, which I have access to (legally). It'll be like learning all over again, but I hear nothing but great things about after effects and it's usage in the kind of video stuff I do. so maybe it'll be worth it after all. Hmm

I'm pretty much going to lose the rest of this day to making sure a migration to a newer computer goes smoothly. A new drawing computer is what I put down on, which will be nicer to lug around with me on the road to oklahoma and wherever else I decide I need to do work at outside the office. but actually moving the files over and such is just a pain and a lost day of waiting ...

This scene is starting to come together! It's fun to draw, but the real treat and meat of the whole thing is making it all come together when editing them moving. It's messy, but I like it. Like playing with silly putty and your gameboy camera.
