Coming This Week And GoFundMe Stuff

Wow. The GoFundMe campaign has already been fully funded. I will plug it in this week's video and mention that any additional funds goes towards equipment to improve the videos. Such as more storage for a reasonable back-up size and an audio interface, which will improve the audio quality.

To quote something I wrote in private: The support has been kind of overwhelming. I didn't think I'd hit the goal. But the community proved me wrong. And now I have the responsibility to prove your fa...

Soft Launch: GoFundMe

The comments and poll result were overwhelmingly in favour of launching a GoFundMe. So, yesterday I set it up and it is live. If you can contribute, thank you! If you cannot, then be assured your membership here isomer than enough.

My intent is to livestream later today and do a Q&A for about an hour. If you're a patron and on Discord, you'll see a voice channel called SBP-LIVE. If you'd like to join in and chat or ask a question you can do that. Although, be aware the audio will b...

Do A GoFundMe Campaign?

All this week I have been considering whether or not to do a GoFundMe to help with the burden of debt I find myself within. Although, I have to acknowledge that some have been very generous in their response, which does help.

My considerations for starting one are this: It helps me pay off the new computer, monitor and would allow me the opportunity to get additional storage to replace the corrupt back-up. Because, right now, I don't have one. That's not ideal. The total I have in mind ...

Keeping You In The Loop

First of all, hello and welcome to all the new members that have recently appeared! Thank you for supporting this channel and your humble narrator during this difficult time. Further thanks go to all the members that upgraded their membership. I appreciate every single one of you and I am genuinely humbled by your kindness. Thank you.

As for what's coming next...

Later today a quick review of Absolute Batman #1 should go live. I have to put the finishing touches on it this morning...

Coming Soon!

After a week long health issue, I'm back to work. I'm trying hard to have the next video ready tomorrow and it's focus will be on the recently deceased Bernie Mireault. As a creator who's work I enjoyed, I didn't provide enough coverage. So, as a tribute and memorial, I'm putting together a greatest hits/highlights of his career.

Following that will be the suggested reading list, which I was working on before the untimely passing of Mireault and the sudden illness. So, hopefully things ...

The Authority: Uncensored

It didn't occur to me until this morning that I could (and should) upload the uncensored version of this video for all you fine people. This is it's original version that was suddenly shadow banned by YouTube for no specified reason. The two versions on YouTube are a hastily censored version I did using the YouTube tools (which did nothing to get YouTube to reverse it's decision) and the other version is the equally censored version I did afterwards out of pure, unadulterated spite.

What's In The Works

This week I'm working on a suggestion from a comment I received: A recommended reading list. This first one will be entirely dedicated to superheroes and it will likely be pretty long. In fact, I'm adding to it while editing the video together. As a result, it's going to be lengthy and might not appear until next week. I hope it's worth the wait.

It's broken into two sections, with a third I might add at the end. The first is mainstream stories. The second is darker, more mature superhe...

Old SBP: Canada - The Amazing Truth Revealed!

While waiting for this weeks' video to arrive, I thought I would entertain you with this video I made back in February, 2016. It was live on the SBP channel for, maybe, a few months before I wiped almost all the content and focused strictly on comic books. So, if you remember this video, you've been around a LONG time.

Flash fact: I actually made this due to a call out on Facebook. A local comedy venue was looking for funny videos by local "talent" that they could play as interstitials ...

What's In The Works This Week

First of all, I have basically completed Comics 101: The Elements Of A Page. I might do that as an extra here for all you fine Patrons. Maybe in a podcast or ebook form. Or both. What's the delay? Believe it or not, I'm having a hard time visualizing it in video form. And it kind of sounds a lot pretentious. Honestly, I'm not sure it would be of general interest.

What I'm currently working on is a look at the Eisner's for the Best New Series. This will probably only include the first de...

What's In The Works

Coming this week is a video that matches the graphic above. I'll be looking at the four launch titles of the new Ultimate Universe and seeing how they're doing at this point. Which are good and which are...less good? You'll find out soon!

Other projects I'm working on are:

The next Hellblazer video, which will be focused on the massive Paul Jenkins run. I've partially re-read, but I'm taking a bit of a break so I can keep a clear head about that portion of the series.

Due to...

Coming This Week (Maybe?)

Due to pressure from the members in Discord I have begun a comprehensive look at the lovely series, Bone. Yes, I actually listen and read your suggestions! More than few people made the case that Bone HAD to be a topic that was covered sooner, rather than later. So, I got to work.

The word "comprehensive" kind of covers it. The video will dig into its past and how the series went from complete obscurity and on the verge of disappearing to a position where it is hailed (and criticized) a...

Shadowplay - Read by Alan Moore

Hello everyone!

As a nifty extra this week, here's the full, Shadowplay audiobook read by Alan Moore. It's a trippy, oddball thing I found lying around so I thought I'd put it up here as bonus material. I'm sure some of you will find it an interesting bit of media.

Hellblazer: The Prehistory

Here's the first four minutes of the forthcoming Hellblazer video. It briefly covers John Constantine's history until the first issue of his solo, ongoing series. The remaining portion of that video will cover the first 40 issues ad elaborate on Jamie Delano's contribution to the character. Hopefully, that will be done by Friday!

The thumbnail for this video I whipped up in one minute just to make it look a touch more professional. But honestly? I think I might actually use it for the f...

Strewth! What's In The Works

Coming this week should be the first part of the next multi-part series: A complete overview of Hellblazer. Naturally, it starts with Jamie Delano's foundational run and then Garth Ennis, etc. At the end I will probably compile it into one lengthy video. But, like with Swamp Thing, I'm going to do bits and pieces first. I mean, I can't afford to take a few months off and dedicate all my efforts on that one topic and make one, two hour video. Unfortunately, I have to be practical and put out m...

My 80's Beat Up Your 80's (Obscurity In Heaven)

This was a quickie project I whipped due to a Discord thread. It's a compilation of catchy, but obscure 80's tunes, hosted by yours truly.

Now, back to finishing and narrating this week's script. It might be the previously mentioned video about the elements of a comic book page or it might be about the 80's comic, Roachmill. Probably Roachmill. That's where my brain is leaning.

A Pile Of Jason Reviews

Here's the last batch of reviews. Included is: Werewolves Of Montpellier, Isle of 100,000 Graves, Low Moon and, finally, The Living And The Dead. All that's left is some analysis and a brief wrap-up. Hopefully I'll have the entire video finalized tomorrow. Friday for sure.

I Killed Adolph Hitler by Jason

First of many short reviews this week focused on Jason. This is one I'd like to do a little more in-depth in the future, but it's pretty spoiler free for those not familiar with it. As will the rest of the short reviews.

Jason: An Introduction

This week will be a video dedicated to the work of Norwegian artist, Jason. Or John Arne Sæterøy, for those that want to Google his given name. So, before that video goes live for everyone, I'll be posting quick reviews of each graphic novel.

This video is an introduction to Jason's work, with a little biographical information.

There will be a minimum of five graphic novels in the compiled video. Probably more, but definitely not less. And I'll be posting them here first through...

Keeping You Updated

The Shade The Changing Man video is taking a lot longer than I anticipated. Due to it being requested multiple times and the fact that it's barely represented on YouTube, I'm trying to be reasonably thorough before releasing it into the wild. That requires a bit more time, but it is being worked on! It is coming very soon!

Also in the works is a video I've titled: Comics 101 - The Elements Of A Page. It's a guide on how to read comics, but it leans heavily into how I go about analyzing ...

Coming This Week

When I began SBP almost seven years ago (yes, it really has been that long) one of the first trial videos I did to see if I could actually do video essays about comics was Cerebus. So, it feels very weird to finally get to the end of my examination of the series.

Hopefully, by the end of this week, I'll finally have the video about Cerebus 151-200 complete. It's a script I wrote some time ago (concurrently with Jaka's Story/Melmoth, to be precise) but I've been adding to it and refining...

Coming This Week

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing fantastic.

This week should be a video all about Gwen Stacy. Actually, a very specific part about Gwen. It's an investigation trying to confirm a very simple statement: Gwen Stacy was inspired by Stan Lee's wife, Joan.

You'd think that would be easy to address and it wouldn't immediately lead to a rabbit hole or three, but you'd be wrong. This was something I stumbled across while doing a previous video about Steve Ditko, which led to a to...

Coming This Week!

This week I am finally going to upload the Q&A video I intended to make before I got sick and found myself flat on my back for almost two weeks. In fact, I'm still kind of sick. This damn virus is lingering and won't go away. But I'm working through it.

After that, I have more than a few that's scripted and waiting to be recorded. There's the final Cerebus video. A retrospective of Gerber in the 80's (which is going to be pretty damn long). Possibly a piece about Elektra: Assassin. ...

I did intend to have a few quick reviews by this point but after I posted the video on Monday I got violently ill. In fact, this is the first day I've been upright since then. And I'm still pretty feverish and feel like I'm dying. I'm not, but I'm in pretty bad shape.

So I've just enough energy to keep y'all informed and to let you know a round of quick reviews will be on their way once I'm better.

Ditko’s Secret Exposed! (Uncensored)

Hi. We have to talk about Steve Ditko and a hidden portion of his career.

As the title suggests, this version of the video contains uncensored images. Although, nothing is overly explicit. Regardless, had I uploaded this version to my regular platform, it would have been shadow banned almost immediately. Another, carefully edited version will appear for the public in a day or two, once I make the necessary changes.

So...thank you for your support and allowing me the opportunity to...
