Patreon Updates!

I've gone through and made some changes to the Aging Wheels Patreon page that I thought I should share with you, my patrons, before one of you notices and thinks I'm trying to pull a fast one.

When I setup the Wabant project as my Patreon goal, I estimated Patreon would account for roughly 25% of my income, so I set the goal amount accordingly. The Bus Project Part 1

It has begun! I have stripped down the bus to its bare bones in order to see how to continue further. This is, as the title suggests, the easy part. After this span of undoing screws I'll have to put some real thought into my next steps. Anybody have a small crane I can borrow?

A Bus, A Trabant, and A New Car!

Yes, that's right. I bought a clapped out Durango to abuse until it can take abuse no longer. The Trabant Engine Rebuild is Finished!

A lot has changed in my life since the beginning of this project. It probably would've only taken me a month if I wasn't separated from my parts supply by an ocean, half a continent, and a language. And yet, here we are. The Trabant runs like new now (probably), and I couldn't be happier about it. I know it's an awful car, but it's my awful car.

I begin the rebuild of the Trabant's meager two cylinder engine starting with the removal and teardown. I discover the engine condition is better than I thought in some ways, but mostly worse.

As a side note, the simplicity of this car makes it an absolute joy to work on.

Shop Update #2

It was exceedingly hot in my shop all summer. This was irritating and prevented me from doing things. To combat this problem, I spent thousands of dollars making my shop climate controlled. I don't have any fun money leftover after these renovations, but I could not be happier with the results. My shop is quite literally more comfortable than my house now.
