Recipe sites: you are the worst.

Look, I don't KNOW things about cooking like time to put something in and how hot to make the ovenmachine. So I innocently think that I can search these things on the internet which is how everyone my age solves all their problems. Usually this is a perfectly acceptable solution and I can even misspell words or use incorrect terms and Google will just lovingly correct me using sarcastic italics that start out "didn't you mean....."

It isn’t even *that* cold in Ottawa yet but as soon as the snow starts flying my whole body just decides to drop by ten degrees for four months. The only way to combat my perpetual chilliness is to layer like an angry little matryoshka doll WHICH TAKES TIME.

So. If I am running late during the winter months, I blame this wardrobe malfunction and the fact that long johns feel like trying to get into a wooly wetsuit. Wish me luck.

It is November and I am freezing.

Inktober week THREE gallery!

Oooo we are DOING this Inktober thing! I’m feeling pretty good about the progress so far and I definitely think the designs this week turned out fun. This was the first round that I had one design that was just navy line work on grey and I really dig the look of that style. So often less is more and sometimes I forget just how high impact simple line work can be.

What does an idea feel like?

I wanted to use the Patreon-exclusive comic to think about brainstorming. Inktober was a great example of what it feels like when I’m pondering projects. There’s always the first few ideas that come to mind and they’re usually the safest, easiest to execute - the sure fire kind of ideas. Those definitely have their place and there are plenty of times when I’ve subscribed to keeping things simple in order to make sure I can deliver on a project, meet a deadline, or manage a lot of prio...

PIZZA IS A VEGETABLE

Hey beautiful patrons! Little surprise comic today about how soooooometimes I let my eating habits slide. When I’m absorbed in what I’m doing I occasionally find it REALLY difficult to stop and like...acknowledge my body and y’know...do things to keep it functioning.

This is my long suffering and very loving friend Sarah who will ask me these questions and then amazingly be unimpressed with my answers.

Here’s to a balance of self-care AND the occasional self indulgent food...

My laptop and my external hard drive have communication issues.

I love my laptop. It’s served me extremely well for YEARS and has lived well beyond the life expectancy. BUT it is also approaching the age where things don’t update and you can HEAR the gears grinding when it fires up. So I’ve been trying to be diligent about running back ups because some day, in the not too distant future, I’ll need to replace it.

Last night it took a few tries to get my zippy little hard drive and my grumpy old laptop to speak to each other but we got there.....

Inktober week one is DONE!

OKAY okay okay. SO week one of Inktober is complete. If you didn't catch my previous post, quick recap: Inktober is an annual challenge that artists all over the work participate in. There's a prompt list put out by the creator and the idea is that you create a drawing each day based on the prompts and post them for every day of October. Look. Full disclosure: I basically need to be unconscious to rest. I’m not saying this is a good thing, it’s just that being awake means feeling compelled to DO ALL THE THINGS. So I may rely to heavily on the powerful knock out of Neocitran when I just need to sleep. Great plan right? October Sketchbox: Night time Jackalope

A little early look at the piece from this month's Sketchbox which was full of lovely ink and drawing thinks.  All those moody colours made for a mysterious Jackalope that likes to travel by night. I think the Jackalope likely knows how to swim so can live on a very strange island and be surrounded by stars. Part of my process.

I’m actually pretty good with time management and deadlines (kinda haveta be) BUT for some reason, a mandatory part of all of my timelines is spending some time freaking out about the deadline approaching. Like...JUST freaking about it. No action, just...freakin’ out.
