NEW VIDEO: Do “Binary Trans Women” Even Exist? The Politics of Gender Conformity

My new video is here! Sitting at a respectable 39 minutes, it’s an exploration of gender non-conformity and the impossibility of being “binary”.

Excited to share this exclusive new collection of Gender Hot Takes with you all.

This is an early access version, but it’s identical to the final. It’ll be premiering publicly this Saturday at 8PM EST/5PM PST. Come hang out in the live chat if you like! I’ll be there chatting about the video.

(As I post this, it’s ...

September Update: Honey, You Got a Big Storm Comin'

Hi, everyone! Hope your summer's been nice so far. We just got over this brutal weeks-long heatwave here in Montreal, and I'm cherishing every breath of the cool September air. It's busy times at Lily Alexandre Inc, and I wanted to take a minute to update you all on what's currently in the pipeline.

As of the release of my last video, "Finding Hope", YouTube is now my main gig. I'm taking on a few editing jobs a month, but making video essays is now my priority, which feels wonder...

"Finding Hope" bonus video: "Extractive Presence: Dissecting Kentucky Route Zero's Best Level"

Hey folks! After spending the last few days tinkering, I've finished a new essay, for your eyes only.  A 12-minute breakdown of a level in Kentucky Route Zero, which finds you piloting a little boat through a bat sanctuary. It has a lot to say about human impact on nature, and the necessity of carrying on living, even while the world heads down a dark path.

I adore this level, and I hope you'll be able to see why. No plot spoilers in this one, if that's something you're worried abo...

Final version OUT NOW: “Finding Hope in Kentucky Route Zero’s Boundless Decay”

After some technical issues, my Kentucky Route Zero video is here for real! A video about finding joy & community in a world that’s trying to force you out.

Really hope you all enjoy this one. I wrote it to be as newcomer/non-gamer-friendly as possible, so you can enjoy this video even if you’ve never heard of Kentucky Route Zero (though I highly recommend getting the game, obviously).

Patron-exclusive bonus video coming as soon as I can finish it - p...

NEW VIDEO: Finding Hope in Kentucky Route Zero's Boundless Decay

Months in the making, my new video is finally ready! A video on my search for hope in the bleak - but increasingly realistic - world of Kentucky Route Zero.

This cut is a Patron exclusive, with the final version coming Friday. This version isn't 100% final - some voiceover is missing, and the music is too quiet (watch with headphones if you can). The compression also wrecked some of the game footage. I'll do my best to fix all this before the official release.

But for the...

June update: it's tired girl summer, baby

Hey gang! It's been a while. I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on how I'm doing, what I'm up to, and what you can expect this summer.

As you might know, I had a gender-affirming surgery at the beginning of May. It was a major undertaking, and as emotionally taxing as something can get, but I'm feeling more normal every passing week!

As I recover, I'm spending lots of quiet time at home, so I've had lots of time to think & write. I resumed work on a couple scripts at...

NEW VIDEO: "What Is Gender Ideology? (Hint: It Doesn't Exist)"

My look at a growing trend in the anti-trans movement: expressing bigotry through "questions and concerns".

I was worried I wasn't gonna finish this video in time - it was really down to the wire. There's no way it would've gotten made without your support - so thank you!

April update

Hi everyone! Just wanted to give an update on the videos, and what you can expect this month.

Until last week, I had two videos in pre-production: one on the game Kentucky Route Zero, and one broadly on "Art About Trauma".  I was hoping to have the Kentucky Route Zero video out in April, and the "Art About Trauma" video out in early summer.

But, as it so often does, life threw a wrench in my plans. Don't worry though, it's a good wrench! (Is there such thing as "a good ...

"Void" bonus video! "Assimilation: Your Box Wasn't Built for You"

Thanks for your patience with this one, folks. The past few weeks have been crazy, with the end of the world celebrating its first birthday and all.

Here are a couple thoughts on sexism and assimilation. Hope you enjoy!

GIRLS OWN THE VOID: Trans Women, Alienation, and Metastability

Well, it's here! A look at the constant transfeminine search for security, care, and love.

Thank you all for helping make this possible :)

The First 5 Minutes of "Girls Own the Void"

Here's a preview of what I've been working on this past month.

This isn't a final version by a long shot - the graphics and audio are very much a work in progress. It's still pretty rough. But while I work my butt off trying to finish the video this week, I thought I'd give you a sneak peek. I hope you enjoy!

I made a mistake 😬

Hi all! I realized the other day that I incorrectly set up the perks for tier 1 and 2.

My intention was that the $3 tier would give you access to the patron feed, and the $6 tier would give you access to the feed plus your name in the credits. I inadvertently wrote the perk descriptions wrong, making it sound like the $3 tier would get your name in the credits as well.

I've revised the perk descriptions to match my original intention. If you pledged to the $3 t...

Next video is well underway

Finishing up the script for my next video. It's about the unique expectations we impose on trans women, and the fragile nature of transfeminine life. The editing process for this one will be a doozy - trying my hand at some basic animation, which I've barely touched before - but I'm really excited to share with you all.

MOGAI bonus video: DNIs and Hollow Safe Spaces

The first Patron exclusive video is now here! A discussion of Tumblr users' attempts to create safe spaces, and why I think they usually fail.

This video will be publicly viewable for one week, to attract new patrons to the page. After that, it'll be hidden, so only patrons can see it!
