Sneak Peek: Witch of the West, Witch of the North

2 down, 2 to go! Changes made (changelog, if you will):  

• West Witch: Face and proportions updated, braid is heftier, hat brim perspective is fixed, and broom is rotated so it'll be more visible on the card.
• North Witch: Face and proportions changed, colors shifted to brighter and more saturated.

WIP: Madoka Magica

I fell back into Puella Magi Madoka Magica and REALLY wanted to draw some fashion inspired by the girls in the show. It will be a while before I can flesh out these drawings, but I just had to get it out of my system and I'll come back to this someday. I think Madoka (pink) isn't transformative enough so I'll probably rework it for sure, and we'll see about the rest!

Sneak Peek: Strawberry Dress (again)

I promised an old friend art for a favor years ago, and I finally got to return the favor! She asked me to draw her beautiful girlfriend in the famous strawberry dress by Lirika Matoshi. 

We included some small adjustments to the outfit based on items she pairs with the dress IRL (yes she owns it!) - a corset-style alteration in the back, glittery strawberry earrings, and a lace choker. She doesn't wear heels, so I went with strawberry pattern boots.

Sneak Peek: Commission

Some Pokemon-inspired winter wear for @pauldchamp on IG, modeled by some of the characters from the Pokemon anime! L to R: Dawn with Vaporeon, Serena with Umbreon, Misty with Pikachu, and May with Flareon. This isn't part of my actual Pokemon fashion series, just a fun thing on the side.

The second version has eyes that are more my style, but I went with the anime-ish eyes to match the characters better. I wouldn't mind switching to the anime eyes overall but I'm not sure if it matches ...

A small modification to the sewing puzzle mechanic - as mentioned in my 2020 Retrospective, I switched from swapping pieces to chaining them together to mimic "sewing" the fabric pieces together. 

I've received a lot of positive feedback that this is very intuitive, but I am a little worried that you'd get bored after a while - levels would only be differentiated by what design you're making and the diff...

New Backdrops?

I think backdrops were a step in the right direction, but even after I introduced them something felt missing. Maybe it's another art crisis haha, but I did produce this new version more presentable for the square format and hopefully more professional looking because I've long felt that something about my work still felt amateur. This backdrop makes the leap to full color and is more closely inspired by Alphonse Mucha than the last backdrop, but hopefully still original.

New commission prices! I've bumped up the prices to better reflect the amount of effort I spend on them. Patreons who contribute $5 or more will get a $5 discount on all commissions; but starting in summer this will be raised to $10. Capturing Likenesses

Continuing art style explorations by trying to figure out how to draw IRL people, so I decided to practice drawing some Ru girls who follow me! Brita Filter, Blu Hydrangea, and Bob the Drag Queen - I gotta add Vixen and I'll be done.

I wish I could draw them more delicately bc my dream is to have a real ethereal art style, but I'm happy with the line representing the half and half nose I tend to do -- drawing an asymmetrical nose just doesn't work with IRL noses. I dropped the black eye...

Since we're close to the end of the year, I wanted to share some highlights and reflect on my art and fashion. ⁠ I originally shared this on IG but pulled it so I could rewrite and speak more candidly and in length here.

I'm struggling to publish this section because my IG grew a lot this year so I feel really guilty complaining about how I'm performing. But I really feel like getting some amount of "successful" is what caused me to spiral downwards...

Art Style Explorations

Trying a different set of eyes because capturing likenesses with the new style was getting really distressing! 

I was going for something a little more femme and simple, but I think my only qualm is that the new eyes might look a little demonic?

I still like the old set so maybe I'll use that for portraits and closeups, but I do think in some cases it's hard to make them look delicate and femme - it's very more androgynous and graphic

For the last week of my month of gamedev, I designed the fashion school that I want the game to be set in. I'm no architecture expert, but my goal was to create a university campus (no minors sorry) didn't look like other universities. All buildings have this "crystal dome" theme to them, like if Swarovski made a university!

Updated the visuals to match my draft! It's a mix between a puzzle and a dress up game now :D
I think now that I look at this GIF, the number of moves at the top of the puzzle doesn't immediately catch my eye. Do you feel the same way? If so, maybe I should move it somewhere more visible. I really like having it there aesthetically though.
