Putting this week's Far Out There comic up a little early, to cover the next convention trip, and also FINALLY! THE JENNA COMICS ARE CAUGHT BACK UP AGAIN! Now, if I can only get that MadLib comic done, we'll be COMPLETELY caught up! (That's gonna be first priority once I hit the next lull between con trips)

Some context: MAGFest's started doing this thing called "M-Points" to combat the problem of their tournaments and contests having sucky prizes. See, there's no such thing as a prize that somebody, somewhere wouldn't be disappointed with, so the ideal thing is to just let the winners go pick their own dang prizes. Unfortunately, the obvious way to do that - cash prizes - is all kinds of legally problematic. So instead, now you win M-Points which can be spent in the Marketplace L...

I didn't even head down to the Nerf War this year. That was largely because I'd done a page about it every single previous 2016-03-10 04:42:00 +0000 UTC

Granted, taking concert photos inside the actual concert hall isn't THAT much better. I swear, programmable spotlights must have been invented by a person with an all-consuming hatred of camera autofocus.
Also, sorry to MegaFlare for not only bumping his cameo from the main update, but also for apparently turning him into a lesser member of The Midnight Crew.

My first job was selling plastic cups at a mall kiosk. I was terrible at it. Things haven't improved much since then. Have I mentioned recently how much I just don't like doing table duty in general? All the more reason I really, REALLY need this whole Patreon thing to take off!
But seriously, awesome perler stuff.

Yes, despite devoting two separate comics to Opening Ceremonies during the main update, I still managed to scrape together a whole third page from stray notes. What can I say? It was an eventful hour.

Putting together the shelves for an Artist Alley table is always an undertaking, but we really outdid ourselves this year... to the point that we ended up removing a whole layer from the top 'cos it was just needlessly tall.
Also, I still say that one day Kurt needs to make some Rampage sprites to have climbing up the side.

Well, it's not QUITE the night before I leave for Triad, but it's pretty dang close. Anyway, here's you extra MAGFest comics, Patreon! Just as it did with the main comics, this year's MAGFest has set a new record for longest Patreon update, which explains why everything's been so off schedule around here lately.
Also, this comic is substantially funnier i...

Okay, so that's the last of the overdue Jenna comics. I'm gonna TRY to crank out this week's regularly scheduled comic ahead of schedule, before I head off to Triad Anime Con. And then, once THAT'S out of the way, I can FINALLY finish up that overdue MadLib comic!

Hey look! It's last week's comic! Yes, you're NOT getting this week'd comic early, this is LAST week's comic really really late. You'll still be getting another JJBA comic before I leave for Triad Anime Con, come Hell or high water. Just want to make sure all you paying customers don't think I missed an entire week of comics and thought you wouldn't notice.

Oh good, I finally got LAST WEEK'S Far Out There comic finished. Yes, MAGFest delays or no MAGFest delays, I'm not counting this as "this week's comic". I officially still owe you guys one more. I'll get everything squared away as soon as possible.

I tried really, REALLY hard to get an extra Patreon comic done before I left for MAGFest, since I wanted to focus entirely on THOSE comics when I got back. And I ALMOST did it. I managed to get this written and inked before other obligations got in the way, so all I had to do when I got back was edit everything.
Actually, this is kind of a return to form for Scribbles. Like most of the Conventional Wisdom mascots, he was previously in a series of comics I did in college a...

Okay gang, I'm changing things up a bit. When I got started on Patreon, I made my own list of anime I'd do comics on, just so I'd have SOMETHING to work with in case it took a while for people to start making requests. To be fair, it kind of did take a while, but now I've got several paid requests... that I still haven't gotten to because it's taking so long for me to work through that initial list of shows. SOOOOooo, here's what's gonna happen: as soon as the current series of JJBA ...

Dang, even I didn't think this page would go up quite THIS early, but there ya go. This week's Far Out There Patreon comic successfully made it online before I hit the road to MAGFest! Like, waaaay before. But hey, better to go ahead and do it now than risk forgetting in all the confusion.
Also, this "Jixit" guy either looks like Troll from Youngblood, or an elf version of Orson Wells.

See, it's not REALLY me making the same joke three times if I smear a thick layer of self-deprecation over one of them!
And yeah, I know that the ultimate issue here isn't really the depiction of the act of smoking PERIOD, but the perceived endorsement of it. Jotaro may be underage, sure, but he's also the hero and a concentrated pile of "cool dude" in the rough shape of a person, and showing him smoking presumably makes it look cool. A stupid gag involving a bad guy who just e...

You know, I haven't done much in this Sci-Fi webcomic that's really all that science fiction-y lately, have I? At least, not much beyond drawing some characters with funny faces. Well, let's do something about that! I almost had this page just be Jenna walking into the lobby of an office building, but that's not very futurish at all. Instead, I changed it around so that all the various companies involved with this movie flew their own building-sized spaceships right to t...

One of the go-to questions when talking to a creator is what their favorite of their creations is. When people talk to me about Conventional Wisdom, I often get asked what my favorite (or, in many cases, LEAST favorite) convention was. On the much rarer occasion that Far Out There comes up, one of the most popular questions is which character is my favorite. I always have trouble with this question, and not just for the usual "Oh, they're all so dear to me, I can't pick just on...

I gotta write the credits to this episode a thank you note, since it gave me a license to copy/paste like MAD for this page and not feel the least bit bad about it. And since you can see here just how frantic and busy my daily schedule is, you can understand why I'd need to take a few shortcuts,
Also, confession: I actually think Zenyatta & Mondatta are cooler names that Oingo & Boingo, though admittedly I'm not sure how you would translate their song with those names.

NO, MANNISH BOY DOES NOT COUNT.
So, Iggy represented an interesting challenge from an artistic standpoint. Not so much "can I draw this face?" as "which face to i try to draw?" Seriously, do a quick google search and compare all the results. This could have gone several different ways.

They still have magazines in the future because I grew up reading magazines and just couldn't picture this joke working any other way. We're all lucky I don't have everybody listening to music on vinyl.

CRAP, I meant to do this sooner. In order to aid in the process of browsing through all my material on Patreon, I'm occasionally going to post an index like this with links to everything. I'm also going to make these post visible to EVERYONE, if only to tantalize people with hints of mysterious extra comics that only supporters are able to see. MWAWAWA!!! I just KNOW that somewhere, in some corner of the internet, somebody's already done a big, elaborate, fully detailed bit of fan art on this idea.
...also, this makes me want to go watch some more Precure. I was making good progress in watching through all the previous seasons of that show, but then I kinda got busy, you know, drawing webcomics.

Okay, I've put this off for way too long. It's time to talk some Digimon. As I mentioned

, Digimon was probably the single most important contributor to my descent into the depths of anime dorkdom. That was where I went from being an anime fan in theory to one in practice, the point at which I seriously got plugged into a fandom and REALLY geeked out over...

For the record, I did NOT just eat the ramen in a bowl full of watered down coffee, I tried to drain out as much of it as I could before doing it over again with fresh water. But somehow, that STILL left enough caffeine in the brew to keep me away for hours, despite my being about to fall over earlier. But let that be a lesson to you, kids: the one time you don't bother to check the coffee maker WILL be the time someone else forgot to take their coffee pack out of the thing.

Full disclosure: this kind of panel just doesn't have any appeal for me whatsoever. I Know a lot of other people like them, but I'm sorry, I just don't see the fun in sitting a room watching some random kids cosplaying as characters from a show. I can just walk through the halls and see that, right?
Still, I've caught the end of several such panels while waiting for ones I was in to start, and this is pretty much what they always felt like to me. People who aren't good at...
